Due to my weakened immune system from blood cancer the oncologist said I should get the pneumonia, shingles, RSV, flu and covid booster. If I wasn't a senior and had good health I probably wouldn't have gotten any of those shots.  I got them because my white blood cells aren't as effective at someone with a normal immune system. In other words something people get sick and get over eventually could be big deal for me.

That's debatable. A true vaccine means you will not get the disease like the polio one.  Others are an educated guess at the variant that year but if they get the mutation right you won't get it. The third category means you will get a lessor case because it tricks your body into thinking you have the disease like the covid shot so your body is more efficient at fighting the pathogen if you get it. The science proves much less fatalities with people who have the covid shot that catch it. 

As it stands right now covid variant mutation is much weaker than what it was.  Usually the worst case scenario is is bad cold. For someone with age or health problems it could be difference between life, death or permanent health damage. Yes, the covid shot is associated with heart problems but considering the massive amount of people that have the shot, that problem is small, percentage wise.

If I were in my 30's or 40's I wouldn't get a covid booster either.

Somewhat semantic here on what "getting" means, but vaccines do not stop one from getting a disease, they train the immune system to respond to it so that if you do get it it will not be as bad.

The main difference in needing "seasonal" versions of them (e.g. flu) is if the virus can survive and adapt "in the wild".  Polio can't so that's why you only need to get vaccinated against it once vs. every year like the flu.
