Sorry - this thread is getting out of hand. Just a gentle reminder: wrestling's fake.

I know right. lol!

Sid had the look.  He had the size.  He had the power.  He had the believable aggression and intensity.  He was good on the mic.  He didn't need a big skill set because to be honest, that works against the entire monster heel mold.  He could have easily been a type of Bruiser Brody maniac that was marketed to the moon and elevated lower faces.  But instead everyone seemed to drop the ball.

At the end of one WCW run, he interviews were hilarious.  There was a youtube spot where he said that he knew he didn't have a future in the company and so he didn't give a shit any more and was out there having fun.

lurker you are right sid was a beast and good on the mic  2coldscorpio witnessed the fight with arn ,he said arn attacked sid with the scissors and sid basically busted arns face open with his knee and took the scissors and stabbed him back.

if he was 6'1 instead of 6'9 or whatever they listed him at he would've been the opening match at best

Because it made a hotdog-skinned wrestler who shall remain nameless jealous because all he had was a standard bodyslam, a big lame leg drop, “hulking up” and various shaking of his head with his wet angel hair pasta side hair flying everywhere while keeping his eyes wide open and mouth breathing heavily

Hogan sounded the worst. Would rarely put anyone over and talked behind your back to change matches. Oh, and his lies are amazing. What a hotdog-skinned loser with his ugly loser son who vegetabled his friend.

Vegetabled his friend. Oh man, not a funny situation but that word made me crack up.

That’s stating the obvious.

What big guy was or is a worker? Taker, lol. He’s the best of the big guys but that’s not saying much.

What would Taker, Kane, Nash, Show,  Hogan, Vader, Stroman, etc be at 6’1 with their style?

If Scott hall is considered a big man he’s  the best worker.

Rock-N-Roll Express vs Russians
anyone vs Road Warriors
anyone vs Osmos or whatever the Somali pirate reject is named
Rey Mysterio against everyone

If you take someone small with a good skill set and put them against a monster with a good skill set, everyone knows the monster is going to win.  They won't sell seats for that.

Weird thing was Arn escalated the fight with the weapon only to have it turned against him and Sid was the one fired.  Flair had pull back then.

Sid's time when Goldberg was being pushed was the absolute best.  His interviews are legendary.  Especially when he was copying "the streak" that Goldberg was on and the way the announcers kept reminding everyone of Goldberg's streak.  Sid skewed that streak to hell and back hilariously.

Interviewer  : We are here with Sid Vicious and Sid..

Sid : ... now has a 104 undefeated streak.  104 people I have beaten and ........  (interview continues)....

A HALF HOUR LATER IN THE SAME SHOW

Interviewer  : So now...

Sid : SHUT UP!  Everyone of you better shut your mouths because the man with the 108 undefeated streak is here and...

Interviewer  : Wait.. you said just a few minutes ago it was 104.

Sid : Well I just beat up 3 people backstage.

Interviewer  : That's only 107.

Sid : I beat up one person TWICE!!

It was gold.

say what you want about hogan, but he had huge charisma and he's proof nothing is more important for a wrestler than that

hey i liked sid he was a cool character and his psycho sid entrance music was totally badass, all i'm saying is he reached his full potential

taker had some amazing matches and one of the best gimmicks of all time

kane was a better in ring worker too, and a cooler and more intimidating gimmick

vader was entertaining in the ring but he hurt other guys too much, i think he's underrated

stroman?  i don't follow today's wrestling

show had unique size making guys like sid look small, but i like sid more than him

nash was about as cool as it gets, funny too

i wouldn't call scott hall a big man but yeah he's a better worker than most big men

Dude, you on a roll.

BUT.... what you described was/is the classic "big man" move set.  Hogan actually had some decent technical skills but they were just out of place with what Vince was pushing in America.

This video shows him doing things you never saw over here.

There was a match between Mr. Perfect and Show (The Giant) in WCW.  Mr. Perfect did a legit Perfectplex on the Giant.  Straight up powered him up and over.  No "jump" to start or that little "roll" Giant/Show does to help people do the move...  and then Giant/Show did a kip up to get back on his feet.  (hand on second rope, but still impressive as hell)

Interesting you followed the old school wrestling.  Props.

i lived for wrestling up until 2001 when vince bought wcw, the entire product got boring after that and they completely botched the "invasion" angle

i still watched religiously until 2002 and stopped after the disgusting katie vick angle

Yeah, as bad as WCW was in the end, there was the potential to revive it and use it pull ratings again even inside the WWE.  They screwed it up.  And they then turned around and did the same thing with the ECW brand.

The "wrestle wars" between WWE and WCW was the best wrestling since the territories. I doubt wrestling will ever be great again.

ECW was a lot of fun when they were touring around doing the small arena's and bingo halls and high-schools. (Pre WWF involvement).
I went (to see it) three times locally and it was pretty insane.

I loved ECW. Their downfall was trying to "one up" the last week's episode by doing something even more extreme every week. Eventually the fans are bored because they expect even more dangerous stunts that can't be pulled off without killing someone on the roster. The old territories knew how to milk a crowd and do just enough to keep them coming back while saving the extreme stuff for big events.

People are so dumb sometimes.

You have a lot of guys with legit amateur backgrounds who go into “Wrasslin’” because there is no other professional Avenue. There’s MMA but careers tend to be short and you get beat up for real:

These guys are in the WWE now:

The Kasper brothers were born in Lexington, Ohio.[3] They attended Lexington High School, where they both competed in amateur wrestling.[4]

Jacob Kasper attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he studied sociology, graduating in 2018.[5] During his time at Duke University, he participated in collegiate wrestling for the Duke Blue Devils. He was a two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) All-American and a three-time NCAA Academic All-American, and won the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference heavyweight championship. He set a Blue Devils record for the most wins in a single season and ranked second for overall career wins.[6] He participated in the 2016 Olympic trials in the Greco-Roman and freestyle categories,[7] placing fifth.[6] In 2017, he trained with mixed martial artist Daniel Cormier to help Cormier prepare for his bout with Jon Jones at UFC 214.[6] In 2018, he began working for Duke University as an assistant wrestling coach.[8][9]

Drew Kasper attended Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where he majored in exercise science, graduating in 2020. During his time at Otterbein University he competed in collegiate wrestling for the Otterbein Cardinals, with an overall record of 108–13. He was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American. In his final year, Kasper had a perfect 30–0 record and was ranked number one in the United States, but did not compete in the 2020 NCAA championships due to their cancellation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]

The guy is Chad Gable in WWE:

Betts was a Minnesota high school state champion. (2004) [13] He defeated Jordan Holm 2 to 0 in the final of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 84 kg category.[14] He progressed to the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the Greco-Roman style 84kg event. He defeated Keitani Graham from the Federated States of Micronesia in the qualification round. He was eliminated from the competition in
