That article is flat out racist! I read it because I agree that Americans generally dress like slobs (go to any airport) but when the article argues that Whites get this from imitating Blacks, that is flat out absurd.

Self scorn I don’t think so. The liberals I know are often (note “often”) self confident and successful. I will be the first to admit that a lot of policies that emerge from this stance are misguided or have poor consequences (defund the police which a huge perceptive of  Blacks themselves are rising up against). At the end of the day, I would call it “empathy”, which is usually considered a positive human trait.
