Painting the thing white was an absolute classic; I'm sure that's going to be highly visible on the surface of the water. I'm all for pushing limits in the pursuit of knowledge, but these guys just sound like a bunch of assholes. They disregarded safety concerns and it looks like they had no sensible contingency plan in place for an event like this. It's one thing deciding to take personal risks, but the guy married to Free Willy took his 19-year-old son on there with him. Madness.
