Getting Test from a Doctor
« on: April 28, 2006, 09:07:40 AM »
I wanted to see how many of you if any has gotten gear from their doctor? I saw something on tv about a guy who had a low test count or what ever and his doctor prescribed him test.

Have any of you tried this or have any info on what I should say because I'm going in for a physical and want to try asking.

Thanks!

It depends on the doctor some places will measure test levels first.  If you test levels are ok they wont prescribe it.  I know a sports doctor who would measure your test and would give it to you anyway for performance enhancing but its doubtful they will give you the doseage you want. It doesnt hurt to ask

Do you know what the grounds would be for having to go to a sports doctor rather the a gerneral doctor. Is it simply that you are involved in a sport or need a referal from your regular doctor?

Have your doc run a panel to see what your total testosterone levels are and he can take it from there.

Personally, I'd recommend an endocrinologist over any other doc as your primary care practioner.  It will help you in the long run in regards to HRT.

Someone told me of a way to get a prescription if your endogenous test production is too high to get one otherwise. He was telling me that if you hit the gear hard until you shut down, then go to an endocrinologist when your natural test is at its lowest, you could get a prescription that way. I've never tried it, sounds a little dangerous, but it would be a one time thing.

I get my gear from a doctor, well part of it (you can only get Test E and Deca) There is a way of getting the dosages you need, even with the stringent policies. Have your doctor prescribe the regular therapy dosage (which is 200-400mg EOW) for 6 months, and pick it all up at the same time (instead of going back to the pharmacy every two weeks).  That should give you enough test for a decent 6-8 week cycle.

How did you go about getting it from the doctor? Did you just come out and ask him to test you test levels?

No, my doctor is a former sports doctor, he used to help out national teams and stuff, he has no problems prescribing test, deca and gh
also, I'm not in the US, so the probably makes it a lot easier as well.

It also helps that it's covered by my insurance plan ;)   only thing that sucks is the growth isn't covered and it's FAWKING EXPENSIVE.

Some docotors will not give you a bulk supply.  Some will make you come into the office every other week or maybe everyweek. And most have limits to how much they will give you in a week.  If you can get a prescription thats best.

It's not always the doctors but the insurance companies. Sometimes you can only get so much of a drug at any given time.

If you don't take the test, you could lie to a doctor and say you did. When he re-tested you and your test was still low, he would probably prescribe a larger dose.

Fortunately, my insurance company authorizes a three (3) month supply of test via mail order.

The best part is that there's no co-pay (i.e., FREE).

Bad idea telling your doctor you have low test levels. It would hurt your chance to get on insurence in the future if you have something like that on your record.

Alternatively, if you already have insurance - there's no issue at all advising your doctor.

Compared to other maintenance meds and therapies - TRT is relatively inexpensive.

Who knows, I could mention it to him and he might just laugh and tell me to get my gear somewhere else.

If you have insurance through your work, most companies do not evaluate your past medical history at all.  You could tell your doc, move on to another job and their should be no issue at all.

Tell your doctor you are depressed...  and bring with you the Harvard Study which shows that HRT improves symptoms of depression.

That'll be $1,000 for professional services rendered  :P
