It's sad about Nasser - I first saw him in 1999 in Arnold's encyclopedia, behind-the-neck pressing 365-lb with - is that Ian Harrison? You would know, that one illuminati.
Images like that really have a way to make you feel small.
I didn't know at the time that Nasser would pass away 14 years later, and as it turns out, 1999 was probably his last good year before he started to decline. He never did replicate how he looked at the 1997 Olympia.
As for the 1998 Olympia - I think we need to consider that the Olympia tends to be won from the back. Also, I feel Flex Wheeler's physique - as great as it was - is more of an issue of it being a pleasing/beautiful physique.
The Olympia win isn't strictly an anesthetics contest, even if it should be.
Ronnie was bigger and harder - and it's not like Ronnie had a big waist or ugly physique. He wasn't as aesthetic as Flex...but his physique was far from blocky or ugly.
And as I said - I think people are discounting just how much Ronnie improved from 1998 to 1999.
I'd still personally give it to Ronnie, although I get that it's a subjective evaluation.
