I don't want to fully retire when I can.

...I want to work part time at a golf course as a ranger and tell slow golfers to play faster :)

What is your business? I know you owned a gym form awhile but you said the lease was lost I believe.

My main source is being part owner in my sons business where its in house merchandise and licensing with 70 employees. Our own apparel company plus my online  nutrition/training platform. I don’t take a salary from my boys company but rather a quarterly dividends.

I’ve had three gym facilities which made us very good living, yes the last one we got screwed over but still came out ahead. We had the opportunity to open another with Kongo and 3 of my NFL client offering to invest $100k each but at that point we were burnt out and decided to not reopen

The inconvenient truth to having such a large mass in an age bracket is it pretty much decimated the multiple generations that followed.

The workforce got utterly fucked for younger generations as people sat in jobs for life.

Then came the unrealistic quality of life expectation in retirement. You can’t do all the things you want unless you burn through your wealth. Yet when you are old you want to preserve wealth, hence you want to continue working. Why? Because travelling 6 times a year requires a salary.

How have they sat in jobs for life if they’re retired?

In theory there should be an excess of governmental funds because the boomer generation paid into for years while smaller generations withdrew from social security. But as social security is run by the government reality doesn’t matter.

True Adonis nailed it years ago when he said affluent white Democrats regard black people as pets.

I find the boomer generation, on the whole, to be sociopaths who, through token efforts, convince themselves that they're just so goddamn wonderful.
didn’t the true Adonis enjoy his protein shakes straight from the tap? Bigkubby can confirm this oldskool fella .  ;D What happened to him?

I have relatives in their 70's who still work simply because they don't know anything else. They have had a slave master their whole lives telling them what to do. It's sad.

I always keep busy. I recently semi-retired. However, I've wanted to go into a completely different type of work; and nothing is stopping me at this age doing that, if it's interesting enough. Has to be self employed, though. Within the next few years I'll have retired fully in my 40's. I plan to watch youtube videos to learn things like woodworking and enrol in language lessons, and the like. I was thinking of going into Chemistry as I've always been fascinated by that; yet never really was any good at school, even though I tried. Try to expand my knowledge as much as possible.

That's a good gig.  Plus you get to ride around in a golfcart.

There is a difference between physical labor work where you have to go somewhere and mental work from home on a computer not all work is the same

If you're self-employed, work out of your house or wherever a laptop can travel, do something that you love, would do it as much as possible anyway even if you weren't paid, an occupation you've always dreamed of doing, that requires skills that separate you from others, that you get lost in, something you're so into that you often get to 3:00 in the afternoon and realized you haven't eaten breakfast yet because you were so into a project, something that defines you, something that only your family takes precedence over.... then retirement isn't even in the picture.

I want to retire in 5 yrs at 62, and never lift a finger for work again...
Thats my plan at least... (And ive been sitting on my ass at a computer for the last 30 years, physical labor must suck ass)..

(If libtardz dont tank the 401K and financial systems as they tend to do)...

Though a home biz is never out of the question for ones self... Heck, I made 3K this week alone selling 4-pairs of vintage Jackson dumbbells.
And Im surrounded by the crap...  Lots to sell...

For the most part I work from home. That being said, it’s real easy to get distracted and get off task. But for the online stuff I really don’t need an office and can travel and do most of my work from my phone or iPad. I have two other coaches that I also assign clients too as well.

As for selling stuff, of my Pro friend of mine makes an absolute KILLING going to estate sales and flipping it online. A few years back I went with him to an estate sale at Tom McEwen's (Mongoose from Snake and Mongoose drag racing rivalry) house after he passed and bought a shit ton of memorabilia (framed photos, signed pics 100 vintage Hot Wheels still in their original packages, etc) and made like $5k from it although I kept most of the Hot Wheels.

Yes, I guess Im spoiled, working from home for ages... Naps when wanted, etc...   I have a bud who does similar, sells online things he gets from estates, yard sales, etc..
Does very well...

This is a really deep thought.

Are you saying the physical job you had a Home Depot was more demanding than when you worked the stock exchange with 10 monitors and breaking excel?

Depends on the job. If the job is mentally stimulating and you enjoy it then there is good reason not to retire. Some people feel the need to keep going. If they slow down they might not get the mental stimulation and social interactions that prevent some forms of mental aging.

LoL 😂

There are things to ponder:

1) The majority plan their retirement around themselves and rarely does family, kids, grandkids get mentioned as a primary thought. Money is primary.

2) when oldies hit 75+ they worry about being put in a home, being sick, frail, nobody to look after them. However, Money and their wealth is still primary.

Is lack of money the problem or is it not factoring in people to build your support network?

So many oldies are ‘bored’ so they simply must fill their day with expensive hobbies…… oh Lordy if only there was some group of people you could live with to keep you busy and provide you with company…..

Police often exit after 20 years (in their 40s) when they get their pension but still keep working because they need the money.

They are not retired.

Cops in NJ retire 25-30 years. Most departments require a college degree and work experience today so the 20 year old rookie is rarity. The only departments today that still have a 20 year retirement in our area is NYC, Federal police jobs like FBI and Port Authority. Robbinsville by you just upped their retirement to 30 years.

They're not getting their own money back. That money is gone. It was given to bankers and bomb makers.

I'm sure they like to pretend that their grandchildren aren't footing the bill, but they are. I just want to hear them say it. "I bought in to a corrupt socialist ponzi scheme which the ass is destined to fall right out of, and I'm content to have my grandkids be stuck holding the bag."

Social security is an annuity...not a ponzi scheme...

Well over 50 years ago when I signed up for my Social Security Card there were adults there telling all of us not to expect to ever collect anything if we even made it to retirement age.

They were wrong.   I cannot see the future and neither could those folks.  Do your best to prepare for your future by doing your best in the here and now.  Vote Conservative and always think about what is being said to you by your elected officials and what they actually do.  Talk with your friends and neighbors.  Work hard not woke hard.

None of us can add a single moment to our life by worrying about it but if all we do is fret over things beyond our control then we can lose so many, many moments that could add to our lives.
