* Dread and hopelessness, well a family should not be a cover for those feelings, what if the relationship with ones wife becomes intolerable, one will have to face those feelings that the relationship was keeping at bay. One has to face all ones dread and hopelessness in deep meditation and surrender it to the Divine. Otherwise one will always live in fear.

* He talks about not having accomplished what one was born to do and not wishing one was here. Is this not also self improvement? Not being happy in the here and now unless...you made babies?

* I hope he finds a woman who he can live in peace and harmony with and make babies but the expectation of ones happiness or sense of fulfilment should be transcendent of everything because everything is passing, passing, passing.

It's to be competetive to other guys....

In the sexual marketplace really, for most guys. Also can be to be competetive in a career or some sport I guess.

I see nothing wrong with it as long itvs not interfering with your main goals and ambition.. We all compete to survive and to pass the best possible genes on and to spred our seed wide and far.

Family.. Yeah if you choose the right/perfekt woman. Then again with most relations after while the sex wheens off and one or the other gets unhappy

In todays day and age, having a healthy family is too often a pipe dream, mostly because people want it too fast.
It takes years to get to know a woman, and no woman can keep a façade for 3-4 years. Then marry her, and if things are working out, then think about having children.
