and please don't try and argue that Ronnie was bigger in 96 and 97 than in 99.

that argument is just stupid, despite what the erroneous  numbers listed in the mags might say:

LOL my ass was 96 Ronnie anything close to 99 Ronnie: ::)

I didn't say he was close; I said he was better. He had the conditioning that he had at the 1998 Olympia but carried 10 lbs more of muscle. How the hell do you think he defeated Wheeler with straight-firsts scores? Also, Ronnie had a flat stomh and his abs, while never outstanding, were at their best at the 1996 CPC. So, in conclusion:

 - Ronnie was as big as he was at the 1999 Olympia.

 - Just as ripped.

 - But with great abs and no stomach distension.

 - and he beat the king of symmetry, wheeler, with straight-firsts scores.

 - and still got defeated by Dorian at that year's Olympia with straigt-firsts scores.

that should give you an idea of what would happen if the 1995 Olympia Dorian went against the 1999 Olympia Ronnie. ;)

Now, let's assume that you are right about Ronnie having more separations and striations at the 1999 Olympia than he did at the 1996 CPC. In any case, Ronnie at the 1996 CPC was 3 lbs heavier than he was at the 1999 Olympia and he had a flat stomach. Now, between two bodybuilders who are equally muscular but one has more separations with a gut and the other has less separations but a flat stomach, I take the latter. this would make the 1996 CPC and 1999 Olympia versions of Ronnie roughly equal. And surprise, Dorian defeated him with straight-firsts scores.

why are you insisting that ronnie was as big in 96/7 as he was in 99?

just because a magazine made an error does not mean you don't need to use your EYES:

 ::)

He was noticably bigger in 99 than he was when he was losing contests all the time:

same as always: ronnie was harder, esp in the lower body and way wider. even back in 96 the mags were commenting on the difference between the two in terms of hardness.

wait a minute, so hardness now matters?  ::)

Here's a little hint, Yates is miles harder than Coleman ever was.

Well, genius, Wheeler competed around 230 lbs, so if Ronnie was way wider than Wheeler as you suggest - as he was -, then what do you think Ronnie weighted? Obviously, he was appreciably bigger than Wheeler, which means that the magazines weren't lying about Coleman being around 260 lbs. ;)

what the fuck are you talking about?

when did hardness NOT matter?

for the record, peak Ronnie was at least as hard as dorian overall and WAY harder from the FRONT:

do you even know what harness means?

yates is much harder overall.

being hard and having details are 2 sepearate things.

'm not saying ronnie isnt hard, but he's not as hard as dorian.

for instance, melvin anthony, phil heath, etc. have many details but arent tremendously hard.

mike francois won all his shows while being extremely hard and beat guys with better details.

branch warren, did the same (or at least in 06 when he looked good).

so did nasser.

of course, ronnie was better in 99.

stop making excuses for ronnie when he got his ass kicked by dorian for 7 straight years.

you act like coleman looked like complete shit during that time.

he won a pro show, and finished in the top 5 in EVERY show he entered.

but Zane beat Arnold when Arnold was a neophyte, much like ronnie was when he faced dorian..

does that mean that Zane would have beaten Arnold at his peak?

according to the logic offered here, he would. ::)

but the difference is that arnold weighed about 50 lbs. more than zane.

also, that only happened once - when zane won.

after that arnold got in shape and never lost.

ronnie turned pro in 91, a year after yates made his pro debut.

you act like ronnie turned pro in 96.

its not yates' fault that ronnie couldnt get his shit together for 8 years.

dorian's chest never had gyno.

can you not read ronnie's own words:

FLEX, july 2003:

DESCRIBE DORIAN YATES: A close friend. Dorian is very intelligent, a great Mr. Olympia. He had the best side-chest pose and the thickest freakiest back I have ever seen.
