He’s eating and drinking now and walking around, off supplemental oxygen and lowered pain meds considerably. 27k as of Friday. Haha insanity. But I wouldn’t let my buddy go without a fight.

They said his lung will actually expand about 10% to compensate but living with 1 lung is no problem for a dog. I had a buddy in school with one lung he was fine just had a deep weird voice.

Was super glad to hear your dog made it through surgery ok.....

Maybe like your friend, your dog's voice will deepen and will now have the bark of a German Shepard lol.

Thanks again everyone. Vet just called and said he did Greta overnight and is adjusting to breathing and eating again. Should be able to take him home this evening. Truly appreciate all the kind words. This one was tough for me.

Or once the little fella is up to it you could do what my friend did - he had a small sort of terrier-based dog who had to have something done to his hips

For a good couple of months afterwards he took him out wearing one of his kids old baby slings, but with the dog in front facing forward - that way he could see where they were going and it was easy to pet him, give him treats etc.
