My buddy is in the St Pete area.  From the previous storm, he was in the process of replacing is condo floor, since water had got in a mold was developing.  He legit thought he might not even have a place to return to after this.

That is true. It's a trade off. But I suspect for some, Helene woke a lot of people up. I still have friends up and down the west coast who suffered from Irma, and then Helene and now Milton that have them thinking about relocating. We were lucky and moved from the Treasure Island St. Pete Beach area in May. Insurance will likely be ridiculous going forward

Moving from the beach out of a flood zone and away from the Hurricanes has saved me thousands a year in insurance. Entire houses were falling into the Ocean and the sound side houses while safer still had really high insurance. One year a hurricane got behind the houses into the sound where it built up more power and did a lot of damage.

I agree,the salt air corrodes steel like a big dog that`s mainly why we refurbished the shutters.
