I can't understand the TikTok and snapchat stuff. I guess I'm too old too. The other social media platforms aren't set up for a back and forth conversation. Even if you end up in a discussion in the replies under a post it isn't something like a message board where you can search by topic. I guess reddit is something like a message board but it is heavily censored. I prefer this old school layout.

Compared to twitter getbig has the advantage of being small. People replying to tweets by the thousands is incomprehensible to me, your little post is drowned out by the volume, totally inconsequential and unlikely to get any replies or discussion so why post it.
I think forums are still worthwhile, more personal

Very difficult for forums to compete with Meta, Alphabet, Tik Tok and such. Their endless budgets and marketing power have caused a decline in forums worldwide, regardless of country or subject. And cheap broadband internet with near endless download possibilities has also contributed imo.
Photos are "old", it's all short videos now.

Once users have switched, most of their time goes to "new" social media, rather than to traditional forums alas.
