What exactly does a "Six Figure Contract" mean?
« on: May 10, 2006, 01:18:29 PM »
All you hear about on TUF is the fighters are battling for a six figure contract yet no one ever explains exactly what it means.

Does it mean $100,000 over 20 years or does it mean $250,000 over 4 years or does it mean something completely different.

I think it cheapens the show when Dana spews on about it.

I'm guessing the contract in and of itself isn't particularly lucrative.

For instance, if you had a typical job making between $35,000-50,000 annually in 2 or 3 years you'd have earned six figures yet no one spews on about that.

griffin got 16 k for ufc 59 so that's about right (maybe dana gave him a 4 k signing bonus off the top)

I think they get more money if they win too.  Or maybe not, since that would be for guys who aren't under contract.

Six figures is over three years; the purses also have a bonus for win's.  Most UFC guys get their income from sponsors more than the actual fight purses...

Dana sounds like he's in the midst of an infomercial when he says "six figure contract". The sport is fighting to be legitimate and I don't think it helps.

And what the fukk is with that dude going home last night because his girlfriend of 5 months thinks he might be cheating?
