Yup, they apparently raise your levels of ferritin (protein that stores iron in the body).
I wanted a skillet a while back and was reading about the seasoning process and what not, and then read about the iron issue. I had heard about the iron from my mom a long time ago, how that could be a source of "dietary" iron. The article said some people should never use one, like people with hemochromatosis. Apparently, in some situations one might ingest something like 18mg of iron if you cooked tomato sauce in one or something else acidic which could easily be toxic. Many experts say males should never take a multivitamin/mineral with iron unless they had checked their iron levels or been recommended by a doctor. Too much iron of course is toxic and can cause huge oxidation/free radicals in the liver among other things. Incidentally I have
low iron, unknown cause at this time and I'm taking prescribed iron. The reason I said steroid users is of course due to the red blood cell buildup from them which iron facilitates. Some bodybuilders use heavy metal chelators to bind iron, such as "IP6"
