Wild and domestic mammals who graze are herbivores which eat grass and other vegetation. Wild mammals who are carnivores hunt for their food and therefore have a 'feast or famine' consumption style, wherein they may go several days without a meal and then gorge themselves consuming up to 20% of their body weight. Humans and some other mammals are omnivores who eat both plants and meat. Many omnivores enjoy a balanced diet of meals and snacks that contain foods from all five major groups. There are also subgroups, such as frugivores (primarily fruit eaters), detritivores (consume decomposing organic matter), and scavengers.
I knew all that!  LOL  ;D

Depends on body type and goals. As an ectomorph it isn’t as necessary for me to fast much it seems, but I will still occasionally make eating window smaller.

I tried it consistently, carnivore style, for a couple of years.  I'd eat a pound or more of ribeye steak seasoned only with salt around 2pm.  On the weekends, if I got the munchies after that, I'd add some cheese, bacon, etc.

It worked great for me, for a while.  It was nice not having to think about preparing food, eating, clean up, etc. more than once per day.  I got lean very easily, had lots of energy all day long, lifting was great, no hunger, no cravings, etc.

One year after my annual physical, the doctor noticed my fasting blood glucose was above 100, which is very strange since I wasn't eating carbs.  He made some recommendations that ended up not working for me at all.

After looking at the medical literature myself, turns out some studies have shown that skipping breakfast and/or eating one meal a day can raise cortisol levels in some people.  Cortisol stimulates gluconeogenesis which raises blood sugar levels, even in people not eating any carbs at all.

So I started eating a steak first thing in the morning, another steak for lunch, and some eggs and cheese for an early afternoon dinner.  My blood glucose levels dropped like a rock and have remained normal consistently since then.

I'm still fasting from early afternoon until breakfast the next morning, but I no longer have issues with elevated cortisol or glucose.

I dont miss eating at all

Fucks sake all the years being a "bodybuilder" convincing myself I had to eat a certain way

People eat way too much as it is.
Same here.

I did it for 6 months or so, on non training days, otherwise i got hypo. Didn't lose a pound, but that wasn't the goal at the time.
Right now i do 2 meals a day, but i get some brain fog after 15/16 hours without food. Maybe because i don't have much fat. I'm 190 at 5'9".

What do you guys think about eating one big meal a day and fasting the rest of the day? I’ve done it before but starting it again today.

Just had a rotisserie chicken, green beans, carrots, sweet potato and a garden salad.

Starting up 2 hours of cardio a day.

Keeping 50 msg of test every 4 days and adding in low dose anavar at 10-15mgs daily

Goal is to be looking good at 255-60.

Anyone else do the one meal a day?
Won't eating 1-2 meals a day keep you away from your goal of incline pressing 200 lbs of dumbbells?

I've slowly gone from 6 meals a day to 3. Currently flirting with 2, but don't think it will work for me. 1 meal a day without snacks is less than optimal.

3 light meals and one larger meal {Usually dinner} a day for me.

...If I skip during the day I start to feel dizzy.

Counting calories always works - just build in 20% as a buffer since that is the typical error/variance in reported values and weights.

Fasting is for Lent and concentration camps.

Yes, I went a full year on the 1 meal a day diet with no snacks and I thought of food constantly. Workouts were also low energy.

I eat two meals a day and snack throughout the day.

Anything more and I feel bloated and gross. Can’t imagine how bodybuilders eat all those meals.

No way I could put down all that food either. Breakfast and dinner only for me.
