You know who really screwed himself?  Governor Ron DeSantis.  I'd say he has zero shot in 2028.  And he's such a great governor.

Rubio would have been my pick in 2016 if I was a Republican and voted in the primaries.  He will likely be Vance's VP running mate.  Very strong ticket.

Do you think VP Vance being Iran’s preferred negotiator will advance his political career in a positive way?

He kind of fell off from the spotlight.

If he read Trumps book "Art of the deal" maybe he can negotiate peace and tout that accomplishment for his presidential run.

Who said he is Iran’s preferred negotiator?

Regardless, he will rise or fall based on how the country is doing at end of Trump’s presidency.

Completely.  I rarely see or hear from him.  Just a colossal mistake to challenge and attack Trump.

Iranian officials said it. They are Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi.

Those two will most likely run a train on that closet case.

I haven't seen the quotes from them, so I cannot evaluate them.

Well from what I have read Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says negotiations are off the table. If that is so, then what those two negotiators said or did not say is a moot point.

Frankly, I find it difficult to keep up because comments about what is happening in this war, change hourly and also depend on who is saying it, Trump, Hedgeseth, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, JD Vance, and/or Karoline Leavitt, etc.

Not surprising.  We (the public) always want to be informed, but the military decision makers (Commander in Chief, etc.) should not be telegraphing exactly what we are going to do.

Quote
Tehran’s leaders have now summoned Vice President Vance to conduct negotiations alleging they feel stabbed in the back by Trump’s U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who previously led peace talks. Egypt, Pakistan and Turkey are also expected to help mediate negotiations.
