The thing with Trump is that there's no "intellectual" side to him. Reportedly he has never actually read anything. So he has almost zero knowledge about anything, like history of geopolitics, political ideology, religion or philosophy. Someone like Putin can expound on the history of Russia for hours, which I'm sure Trump couldn't on the USA. Putin also had to go through very intense schooling for his intelligence service job. I think he's a lawyer too? So what could these two really talk about, you know what I mean? Had not thought of that combination. I am convinced a “socialist” at top of the ticket will definitely deliver the 2026 presidency to the Republicans. But something is weird thinking about Gavin/A0C. Something tells me that combo would beat Vance, who has deep baggage.

Clearly false, plenty of media out there showing he reads a LOT of newspapers daily.  It's also obvious from the broad range of topics he can speak on extemporaneously.

He reminds me of how Howard Hughes was portrayed in “The Aviator” when he’s at the Hepburn house with all of those people and they ask what he reads and he says he reads a lot of trade journals and what not. The dude is far from a dummy, but you’re right, he’s not polished. It hasn’t hurt him either. Not every leader is a “philosopher king”.

I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong and can change my mind. Could you show some examples. I didn't get around to watching the Joe Rogan show, was that good? What I have noticed is that he watches a lot of TV and it's important that he's on there. Only people don't watch as much TV anymore. I have seen many commenters who have been close to him say he doesn't really read, ok newspapers, but newspapers don't do a lot of deep analysis. What topics is he good on? He sold those made in China Bibles, do you think he's really read much Bible or knows a lot about Christianity, theology? I also know that you can't at all improve your IQ by reading, his IQ might still be high, but you need some knowledge on topics to be able to argue this way or that. I just started reading an article on Roosevelt and he supposedly never read anything except some pulp novels, didn't get into some elite club at university, to his great regret. Trump also speaks like a street thug, saying Putin talks bullshit, but someone said that is just for domestic consumption, his fans love it. Never saw anyone say Trump is in any way "intellectual." Like I said, Vance seems to show more of that

Did Putin change? I doubt it. Trump just expected him to bend to his will, the charisma just wasn't strong enough.
