You can find early shots of power rack squats too. He gradually dropped things out, if he found them painful. Squats annoyed one of his hips, so he added in other stuff. He Romanian deadlifted, but I don't think I ever saw conventional or sumo from him.
He seemed afraid of back injuries from heavy deads. IIRC he did deads with just 200kg which is pathetic when you row almost the same. But what does it matter with the back he had! His pics still amazes, and he now says he would have trained even less when thinking back.
