Someone said Euros would still drive as they usually do even if oil was $200 a barrel. We already pay much more than Americans due to the high taxes on gas. In neighboring Finland gas and diesel is $10 per gallon.

Trump now supports a ban on diesel exports because the domestic price hurts the Republicans ahead of the mid-terms. No problems at all.

Doug MacGregor thinks it should still be taken seriously especially since Trump is not in control, Israel is and in this context the threat would mean 'letting' Israel nuke Iran.

At the general assembly speech Trump said he doesn't care about the mid-terms as he's not running, the Republicans are, it "doesn't even enter my mind." All that matters is Iran can't have a nuke, the political fallout from the war is worth it.

I’m very interested to see what effect this will have on midterms.  By conventional wisdom, it should be a massive blowout for the democrats.  Unpopular war, high inflation, high gas prices=unhappy voters.  Of course, the Dems are doing their best to demotivate their voting base, so it’ll likely be much closer than it has any right to be.

I agree with you I think MacGregor is wrong. I don’t read too much into “annihilate quickly.” Coming from Trump, it’s almost certainly impulsive phrasing rather than a planned threat. I don’t take it seriously. It’s just more billionaire bluster.

America’s oil executives say the fuel crisis they have warned about for months has arrived. Commercial fuel stocks have been falling for more than six months, strategic reserves are close to their limits, and attacks on Saudi Arabia’s bypass pipeline have stranded at least 2.5 million barrels a day. Chevron boss Mike Wirth says the buffers that cushioned prices have largely run down and he struggles to see why prices would ease soon. Diesel is now at a record $6.50 a gallon and rising.

The shortage is spreading into everything around the fuel itself. Supertanker rates have topped $1 million a day for the first time, container traffic through the Gulf is down 94%, and the base oil used in motor oil has almost quadrupled in price, with Costco rationing sales and oil-change chains running dry. When ships, refineries and lubricants all run short at once, this stops being merely an oil story and threatens to become a shortage of, well… everything.

The sentence Van cited is phrased as a rhetorical question, ie: a question that is posed for some purpose other than to obtain information.  Same as the first sentence in your post I quote here.  It may not be a statement in the strict sense of the definition, but it serves a similar purpose in the context here.

You're grasping too hard here. The original quote from Van was towards Van, if you go back into his post history, he has said that Trump repeatedly said he wouldn't use nukes, so the question was asked of him for confirmation of what he said about Trump. I don't follow Trumps every word, event, post or picture opportunity like some people here, so sometimes I have to take people at their word, sometimes I'll fact check.

Now you've come along in your cheerleader outfit and tried to take my question to Van about his misrepresentation of what I asked him and make it into something it's not. Weird.
