I live next door to folks who Canadian citizens until recently, and they would back up Ironat's comments and then some.

Yes, we need all kinds of reform, because our system doesn't do enough preventative care, the cost structure is ludicrous, etc.......but Canada's is horrid from the experiences they have given me.  Now they say the quality in the major cities is good, but outside of that, it's like the nursing homes necrosis works in.

But the systems worked for decades before the immigration problem. Those doctors didn't get paid as much but they didn't have any debt after college either.

While the U.S. leads in certain high-tech treatments and cancer survival for privileged populations, we have lower life expectancies, higher maternal and infant mortality rates, and higher preventable illness mortality rates than peer countries—all while paying much, much more per capita.

The fact that the wealthy are able to take advantage of our boutique health services doesn’t make the US healthcare system the best in the world.  Far from it, in fact.

Gotta make sure to have travel insurance if visiting the US, otherwise you might incur a million dollar debt or be denied care outright for some relatively minor thing.
