Nowadays it seems like people have sucked all the fun out of lifting. Everything has to be optimal and stable. If it's not stable, it's regarded as a waste of time. They even say barbell rows are a bad exercise because they're unstable.

The worst offender is Jeff "The Dwarf" Nippard and his sideways reverse pec deck, cable hip hinge on seated cable row, and single arm lat pull laying face down on the floor.
I also can't stand cable lateral raises using a wrist cuff or using straps for dumbbell laterals!
I think C. Glass is a great trainer and his clients all train with good form in the videos I've seen. The variations are interesting, creative, and may definitely help different issues for people. The trouble, I feel, are the people who only focus on zany different variations, instead of establishing a foundation with the basics. Or preferring a variation if it makes the exercise easier. It's also ridiculous if a gym is small and busy, and someone is taking up a ton of space doing an elaborate 10 banded upside down hobo umbrella press.
