Garry Frank: Some Kind of Strong
« on: June 02, 2006, 07:41:21 PM »
I was reading some back issues of Monster Muscle that finaly came in the mail and I came across a column by none other than Garry Frank. Going through his column, I found one of his stories particularly keen:

"When I was trying to bench 800 [lbs], I went and loaded the bar, crancked the stereo, and visualized for over two hours. By the next day I had already did the lift over a hundred times in [my] mind, then when it was time, I smoked it."

Sounds like the Dorian Yates of powerlifting - talk about muscle strength and mental strength

Other notables included:

"I won't even step foot into the weight room until I put 8 ibuprofen in me an hour out"

He has had the same lifting belt for 20 years and it has never touched the floor once.

He weighed 380 lbs at the time of the article (Nov 2004)

Question: Does he still have the highest total (2,800+ lbs)?
