A lot of it has to do with muscle control as well. If you have a good feel for your muscles you can make em pop.

Well, for vastus medialis I do some special hack squats (posted on my board) and I swear by them...

Milos can you give us a link to the thread that shows how you do these "special hack squats", please?

My SPECIAL hack squats are done super, super slow...On the way down and on the way up - as well.
It is more contraction of the muscle than pushing the weight - but it is really BRUTALLY HARD way to train legs...
However, it is much, much safer...

I am never afraid that I will re-injure my quad (patella tendon or knee) training this way...
Conventional way (just pushing the weight / as heavy as possible) - my patella tendon exploded under the load ( I did mention that before - I used 900 pounds when I got injured).

Milos after going to the link. I've actually done these and found them to be awesome.

Do you think these add to the outer quad sweep and if not how would you recommend enhancing the sweep?

Bump !

Just got back from my legs training and I include Milos's special hack squat in my routine today.

I have too say I had a hard time trying to keep my hips in the same angle as my shoulders but I did my best.

I did 4 sets of 10 reps, 4-2-4 tempo. ( I only had a plate each side  Embarrassed)

my legs were pumped as hell, I had a little pain in the knees for the first 2 sets but after that it was OK.


From now on, I'll always include it in my routine and I hope I'll get it right in a couple of weeks  Smiley
