My SPECIAL hack squats are done super, super slow...On the way down and on the way up - as well.
It is more contraction of the muscle than pushing the weight - but it is really BRUTALLY HARD way to train legs...
However, it is much, much safer...
I am never afraid that I will re-injure my quad (patella tendon or knee) training this way...
Conventional way (just pushing the weight / as heavy as possible) - my patella tendon exploded under the load ( I did mention that before - I used 900 pounds when I got injured).
