I think he petitioned the IFBB to reinstate his amatuer status, he figured he was never gonna win as a pro so he'd rather do great at the worlds and such...he figured he'd get more pub being a great amatuer than a low level pro.

you may be correct on this. i think he has competed am again. not positive

yes he competed again as amateur and won ifbb world champ few years ago, in turkey he gets very well ppaid by governement.

he won his class in the IFBB World Amateur Championships in 1992, competed as a pro from 1993 to 1997.   Then he went back to being an amateur, placing 2nd in the 1997 World's, won the overall  in 1998,  won his class in 2000, but came in 6th in 2002.

In most of the World's, he's listed as competing for Turkey, but in 2002 it's listed as Switzerland

1.He's originally from Turkey but currently lives in Switzerland where he runs very successfull PT business.
2.In Turkey they don't get paid very well from the goverment anymore due to the changes of politics in sport after they president died.
