So I'll be going out to Los Angeles yet again very soon, and I can't find the info I have about the original Gold's Gym (address, location) Does anyone know where exactly it's located in Venice? For example, it's address. I remember the last time I went to L.A. I checked out Zucky's Restaurant (where Arnold first met/picked up Barbara Outland) and of course it was deserted/closed. But it was still cool to see. Had the sign up and everything. So, yeah, anyway.... let me know about this Gold's Gym - if you can.  8)

Go to www.ironage.us and do a search. I know they have multiple threads about the Original Golds.

I'ts a good time to see it.

It has an apt., upstairs and  was on the market for $900k and will sell and be made into something else. The mecca will be gone.

I trained there with Ronnie Abston a few times, he would ask fro advice on calf and arm training . . . those
 were the days.

1006 Pacific Avenue, a block off the beach towards one end of Venice Beach. It's bizarre to actually see it, almost unchanged. There's so little room on the sidewalks that the view is better from the other side of the street, where that pic was taken. The new Gold's isn't as good, mainly because unlike this one it's nowhere near the beach.

Too bad someone like Weider or Schwarzenegger hasn't bought it and made it in to a museum or BB theme restaurant.

I agree, it should purchased and restored ( they say some of the old equipment is still inside and a lot of the rest is known to be in other places.) Could it be moved? I heard it is a bad part of town around there.

What about you, Ron? You should get behind this.

The servers would be second- and third- tier NPC competitors in posing trunks and competition tan, I suppose. With bench-press benches rather than seats. And rather than eating dessert, you have it injected into your ass.

Anyone care to make reservations at the "Hard Pec Cafe" ?

Until then, check the classifieds in various homosexual publications; they should be able to help you.  ;)

Probably because both of the afore mentioned individuals do not make investments in sure fire failure projects.

It's completely changed the dynamic; BBs aren't seen as much on the beach or working out at the outdoor pit, in part because the gym isn't nearby. Bad choice moving it that far away.

Since Schwarzenegger's invested in nearby properties your logic makes no sense, in addition to which there is no indication it wouldn't be viable other than your hair-trigger opinion. Schwarzenegger's paid good money for other things in his past. Could've been bought inexpensively years ago before prices went up. Most likely it wasn't available for sale then, and since then it's possible the owner(s) haven't been interested in selling. Might still be viable unless the price is totally unreasonable; publicity would be huge.

You do realize we're talking about beach-vicinity real estate in southern California, don't you?  :)

Someone should buy the facade (you can do that i've seen it happen) and put it up somewhere else (in front of a steel warehouse/shed) and start a bbing museum...

No, the building's generally in use. I think Sprague lived/lives there.

Well it's on the market apparently and the zoning allows for an apartment building on the site so the original mecca is in serious danger folks!

After all this time, the symbolic value of the building is such that even if the property were sold, someone would likely buy and relocate the original building.
