i don't live in Chicago i was just born there and lived there the first two years of my life then lived in West Central Indiana about 90 miles south so i used to go there all the time.

If you are anywhere near Wrigleyville in the city, go to Quads Gym.


It has been there forever, 3 stories, with every piece of equipment you could want and then some.  4 diff racks for dumbells with plenty of lb. so there is not a cluster in front of the dumbells.  Supplements, juice bar, the owner is very cool and keeps the gym up


Probably one of the best gyms I have ever been in, it was also rated top 10 by Muscle and Fitness a few years back.   I don't even live in Chicago either saying this

 CFC Fitness would be your best bet...otherwise take a trek to MY gym on the southside...1 mile SOUTH of Comiskey Park...

 Pumps Gym. Very small but as hardcore as it gets. I can confirm it is the ONLy gym in Chicagoland with an old school Nautilus Pullover...Nautilus lateral raise machine. 100lb plates everywhere, chalk is welcome, heavy and 'brutal' training is welcome, ammonia is sniffed and stomachs are flipped. Dumbbells go to 160lbs.

 PM me for info...$200/year. Get the fawk out of Palatine...

 Chicago is 'TheBlockHead's playground...I never leave it. God, HIMSELF lives in Chicago...

 Hey PowerRod...the only XSport I like is the one on Elston Ave. It's still hardcore and nasty gritty chalk infused training is still allowed. The other XSports...dont even allow deadlifting. Straight up!

 All the quality hardcore gyms are on the southside...on the northside you have Quads(even thought most of the members have way too much sugar in their shoes) B&W Gym on Clark/Peterson Ave is a good gym as well...

I'd go with Quad's gym.  I've trained their and loved it. It has everything you need without bullshit nowadays that cater to the "social lifters."

PS Dikta would pick Chicago over Pittsburgh anyday.  ;)

 Oh yea yea...I heard they did. The old 'Al's Gym' had a few old school chain link Nautilus stuff. Damn that was a great gym...

 Chuck did as well at USA Gym but when he moved it to the smaller location...he got rid of it all.

 Where do you train at player?

  Chicago is the greatest city in this country...we have beaches like L.A. and culture/nightlife like NY...have cold winters, crisp falls, warm springs and HOT summers...we have the BEST food on earth(thats why Chicago is the fattest city) best looking skyline you can turn the kitchen sink on and drink water that most people in this country has to buy...we even have a good hardcore BB/FIT/FIg scene with good gyms scattered everywhere.
