Pre Workout Meal??????
« on: July 20, 2006, 09:35:55 AM »

I workout at 5:30 in the morning. I am tyring to drop some lbs. I was 270, but am working to 240. I train hard M-F (1=chest,2=back,3=legs,4=shoulders&traps,5=arms), and after, 25-30 minutes of walking on the treadmill switching up intensity from 3 to 6 every 2:30. Before I get to the gym I wake up at 4:30 down a whey shake w/ some BCAAs and then 30 minutes later have a good 3 tablespoons of natural p.b. with a couple swigs of fat free skim milk. Is that enough food, cause I am trying to lose weight, but I still want to keep my power and size. Obviously I'll lose size with the weight drop, but is my pre meal ok? :-\ PWO meal is 1 cup of oats, 5 egg whites BCAAs, 1 orange, some blueberries, with water. Between break. & lunch I have nat. pb. sandwhich on rye, lunch is just under 1lb of lean turkey with lettuce and brown rice, half a serving of muscle milk b/t lunch and dinner, 2 chicken breasts with lettuce for dinner, and whey shake with skim milk before bed. Thanks.

I bartend so I keep late hours and sleep in. I follow a 2 on, one off schedule with a four-day split. If I have to workout on Thursday, I have to hit the gym by 1pm, since that is the one day i have to be at work at 3pm, usually I start at 8 or 9. Well I also close the bar on Wed, so I never get to sleep until at least 4am, so to get sleep, I need to wake up at noon, and get to the gym by 1 or 1:15pm.
If I eat too much I will be bloated, but if I only have a shake I feel hungry and lack energy. I tried some MRPs, which fill you up better than just a protein shake, but I didn't really like them.

Now what I do is just eat a bannana or two, and have some whey mixed with skim milk. I guess if you use a blender you could just mix them all together, but I just eat the bannana and mix the milkand whey in a shaker.
Seems to work well, as I have enough carbs to have enough energy, and enough protien so as to hopefully not send my body in a catabolic state. Yet I also not too full, as to hamper my workout.

My favorite Pre-workout meals (always include oats for the low GI carbs)

- 1cup oats with banana (77grams carbs total
- 35grams whey protein

- 1cup oats
- 4 rice cakes (98grams carbs total)
- 35g whey

-1cup oats
- blueberry bagel with FF cream cheese and low sugar jelly
-35g whey

some will disagree but i think Preworkout you want a mix of low and high glycemic carbs...as the low GI provides sustained energy to get you thru the workout and the high GI gets you thru the 1st few sets....of course while cutting high GI carbs are a no-no except post workout!

get something before u go to sleep

eat just a little bit before u do ur exercise in morning(5:30! crazy!)

for a normal people, they do much much digesting at night
so in the morning, u shouldn't eat anything that is hard to digest

I will suggest banana before exercises in the morning, coz....
I don't think u will wake up at 4 then do exercise at 5:30, right? ::)
u can't eat then exercise, there must be at least 1 hour for digesting
but it takes lower for banana, 10-20 mins is ok already

or even u can do the same as what u see on tv's tennis match
go exercising right after u eat banana, it's 100% ok no problem ;)
