OLD?? ROFL, I don't think Pudz is even 30 yet... though he looks like he's in his late 40's.

It is a figure of speech. It does not literally mean old.

And some of them are...but Mariusz isn't.  :-\

If Marius is really only 29, that is extremely scary from a biologist's point of view. I am 28, and man, if I saw that guy, I would expect he is closer to 40 or so. Imagine the "effects" you can't see? Wow. :-\

Mariusz was 28 in that clip.  He just turned 29 in May.  That makes him only a couple of weeks older than a friend of mine who can easily pass for my age (24), yet Mariusz looks old enough to be his father.  Interesting thing is that they are both Polish too lol.

Matt, the reason why Mariusz looks so decreit is several fold. One of the primary is the enormous mumber of calories he easts daily: this leads to increased oxidtive stress and wears out the digestive and circulatory systems earlier. The more you eat, the more free radicals are produced, and Mariusz eats about 8000 calories a day, whih is roughly three times more than the averge adult male needs. Furthermore, a lot of those calories come from sturated fats and simple carbs, like frutose and glucose. Saturated fats not only accumulate in the arteries, leading to artherosclerosis, but is also dramatically increases the need for vitamin E to be metabolized and it is very hard on the entire body's cells itochondrias, wearing them out earlier. The immense quantities of glucose and fructose, that he ingests during his training, not only leads to insuling resistence and increased blood levels of triglycerides, but it also increases something called glycation. it is a process where a carb combines with a synthesized protein, leading to defects and cross-linkings between the structures in cells. This leads to hardening of the arteries and wrinkles.

FLEX magazine and others keep saying that a high-protein diet is healthy, but nothing could be further from the truth. Vegetarians get very little protein when compared to animan-foods eaters, yet live an average of some 20 years more. Pro bodybuilders follow the sae super-high calorie died of Mariusz, but the damage and premture aging doesen't show as much, beause pro bodybuilders eat much cleaner foods and also lots of vegetables -which contain antioxidants. So, to some degree, this compensates for having a high-calorie diet. Getting an excess of calories from protein is not as bad to one's cardiovascular or epitelial health as gettting them from saturated fats or simple sugars, but it's even worse for the internal organs. Disregard what the mags say: high protein is very you! Getting back to Mariusz, he might be a bull, but he's clearly unhealthy and very prematurely aged. I wouldn't go as far a ssaying that he looks like he's in his late forties, but he does look like he's in his early forties or, at the very least, 40. I would sy he looks about some 15 years older than he really is.
