Bruce Smith was 6'4" 260 pounds. He came into the league at a fat 305 and warmed the bench in Buffalo. He got serious, lost a lot of weight and became a great defensive end. Defensive end is about speed, the ability to put moves on and shed blockers. Its a finesse position. Tackle is where the big men play.

i think you've got OFFENSIVE LINEMAN in mind when you think of the big, fat 335-350lb. guys, these guys are typically the biggest strongest dudes on the team, Larry Allen comes to mind as one.
