I'm a Who fan, Pete Townsend in his prime was the best songwriter on the planet. My MP3 player is still loaded with Who songs.
1. Love, Reign O'er Me - The greatest mix of instrumental and song writing Rock has ever seen. Fantastic use of non-traditional rock instruments.
2, Baba O'Riley - Still remember the first time I heard the opening of the song, it just blew me away.
2a. Won't Get Fooled Again - IMO the best lyrics of any song from that era. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
3. U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name
3a. U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday live at Red Rock - might be the best live song I own. "This song is not a rebel song, this song is Sunday Bloody Sunday"
Honorable mention:
Springsteen - Tunnel of Love - I have an MP3 of this song live in Sweden that is just incredible. It's on my MP3 player too, it's about 9 minutes long and it helps me get through the treadmill.
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes - Live in Africa with Youssou N'Dour. Another long song that helps me through the treadmill.
