It’s official. Jay Cutler has signed with BPI Sports and will be launching his own signature series sometime in 2013 with the company. Cutler will allow BPI to market its subsidiary brands in various outlets like never before, while allowing Cutler to stand behind our brands, rather than in front of.”

Ron Avidan has been a fan of the bodybuilding world for years. He’s combined his passion for the industry with his joy of taking photographs. Ron can be seen in front of the stage, behind the scenes and roaming an expo hall on any given show day. Many times he’s doing all three and does it with a grin on his face. Ron’s dedication to getting creative shots shows in the number of photos he’s seen published over the years. His work can be seen in FLEX, IRONMAN, MuscleMag and numerous other fitness publications throughout the world.
Friday evening, before the main competition on Saturday, were the competitor meetings. The IFBB Officials go over the paperwork, make sure all questions are asked, and the times for the next day. Also, a number of people hang out at the host hotel’s lobby and just mingle. Here are some pics from Friday evening the day before the IFBB Phoenix Pro competition.

Today on ESPN.com a comparison was made between Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler and Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler.
What’s in a name? Well, if you’re named Jay Cutler, a lot.
Everyone’s familiar with the Chicago Bears quarterback. You know — 6-foot-3, 233 pounds, threw five interceptions last week, fined $20K for abusive conduct toward a game official. If this were VH1, we might just say he had the worst week ever and leave it at that. But, alas, it gets worse.
Despite being the starting quarterback on football’s grandest stage, it’s debatable whether or not Jay Cutler is even the most successful Jay Cutler in the sporting world. Confused yet? Here’s the breakdown:
Bodybuilding’s version: International Federation of Bodybuilders champion and reigning Mr. Olympia.
NFL’s version: INT leader (and that doesn’t stand for international).
Bodybuilding’s version: Born to pump iron.
NFL’s version: Born in Santa Claus, Indiana. I was trying to brainstorm some creative quip, but you can’t make that stuff up. And I don’t want coal for Christmas.
Bodybuilding’s version: 19.5 (inches around his neck).
NFL’s version: 17 (number of interceptions thrown this year).
Bodybuilding’s version: Competes for titles against the likes of Dexter “The Blade” Jackson and eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman.
NFL’s version: Competes for his job against the slightly-less-intimidating Caleb Hanie.
Bodybuilding’s version: Endorses MuscleTech supplements.
NFL’s version: Endorses press conference pouting.
Bodybuilding’s version: Appears in several bodybuilding DVDs, including “Ripped To Shreds” and “From Jay to Z.”
NFL’s version: Gets prophetic perspective from Stan in an episode of “South Park.”
From the PR Newswire, by Weider Global Nutrition
SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ — GLG-Weider Sweet Naturals (“Sweet Naturals”) is a joint venture between GLG Life Tech Corporation (“GLG”) and Weider Global Nutrition (“Weider”), combining GLG’s knowledge of stevia and Weider’s expertise in marketing, sales and distribution of health and nutritional products. In their Shareholders’ Agreement, GLG and Weider stated their intention was to maximize stevia-based product sales through Sweet Naturals throughout the world. On October 14, 2009, however, GLG announced that it formed its own sales team for stevia-based products. On November 4, 2009, Weider filed a Statement of Claim against GLG with the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada, stating claims for breach of the Shareholders’ Agreement, misrepresentations by GLG and its Chairman/CEO, and for breach of fiduciary duties. The Statement of Claim is a public court record.
Weider remains committed to supporting Sweet Naturals, which continues to market stevia-based products, and GLG has represented that it will continue to supply Sweet Naturals. Although Weider is hopeful it can resolve its dispute with GLG — and improve Sweet Naturals’ service to its customers — Weider intends to maintain the lawsuit to protect and enforce its interests.
The latest press release regarding Bodybuilding.com‘s ongoing cooperation with the FDA.
BODYBUILDING.COM Is Conducting a Voluntary Nationwide and International Recall of 65 Dietary Supplements That May Contain Steroids
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Boise, ID – November 3, 2009 – As part of its ongoing cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”), Bodybuilding.com, LLC (the “Company”) announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide and international recall of all lots and expiration dates of 65 dietary supplement products (the “Recalled Products”) described on the attached list, that were sold through the Company’s website, www.bodybuilding.com.
The FDA has informed the Company that it believes that the Recalled Products contain ingredients that are steroids. Specifically, the FDA has advised the Company of its concern that the Recalled Products may contain the following ingredients that are currently classified, or the FDA believes should be classified, as steroids: “Superdrol,” “Madol,” “Tren,” “Androstenedione,” and/or “Turinabol.” While the Company has not had an opportunity to independently confirm the FDA’s concerns that the Recalled Products in fact contain these ingredients, the Company is undertaking this voluntary recall in an abundance of caution.
Acute liver injury is known to be a possible harmful effect of using steroid-containing products. In addition, steroids may cause other serious long-term adverse health consequences in men, women, and children. These include shrinkage of the testes and male infertility, masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, short stature in children, a higher predilection to misuse other drugs and alcohol, adverse effects on blood lipid levels, and increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and death.
The Company has not received to date any reports of adverse events in connection with the Recalled Products. Because of the possible harmful effects of using products containing steroids, the Company is cooperating with the FDA to conduct a recall of the products the FDA has identified as containing steroids. Prior to agreeing to carry the Recalled Products, the Company received assurances from all of the manufacturers of the Recalled Products that these products were properly classified as dietary supplements in compliance with federal law, meaning that these products did not contain any unlawful ingredient. Customers who have any of the Recalled Products in their possession should stop using them immediately and contact their physician if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking one or more of the ingredients listed above.
Any adverse events that may be related to the use of the Recalled Products should be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online [at www.fda.gov/MedWatch/report.htm], by phone [1-800-FDA-1088], or by returning the postagepaid FDA form 3500 [which may be downloaded from www.fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm] by mail [to MedWatch, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787] or fax [1-800-FDA- 0178].
The Company is committed to providing accurate information about its products. The Company is working voluntarily with the FDA in this recall process.
Consumers should return any unused products purchased on the Company’s site to the Company. For instructions on how to return Recalled Products please call (1-866-236-8417) or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) the Company.

Big news in the world of Pro Bodybuilding. FLEXonline.com reports that Dennis Wolf signs with Weider Publications.
“Despite his recent outing at the 2009 Olympia, we still feel Dennis is one of the top competitors in the world,” Donnelly said. “We feel his consecutive top-five finishes in 2007 and 2008 are more indicative of his enormous potential than the aberration this year. We are confident that Dennis will re-establish himself as one of the elite and as a legitimate Olympia contender in 2010.”
MSNBC.com recently ran a story on the two child stars of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and the lead photo was the children with IFBB Pro Bodybuilder George Farah. The story talks about the kids’ poor attendance at school and are at risk of losing their trust fund. George is currently in India on behalf his sponsor, Optimum Nutrition.

Last Tuesday, it was reported that Eridania Rodriquez was missing. She went to work in a building near the World Trade Center, where she cleaned offices, and never came out. No one knew what happened, until they found blood leaking from a ventilation shaft this past weekend.
She was found bound and gagged, hand tied behind her back, feet and mouth taped, and on the 12th floor, whereas her cleaning cart was on the 8th floor. The autopsy confirmed that she died of asphyxiation by tape to her head and face.
Eridania leaves behind three children. She was the oldest of 10 siblings. Condolences to the Martinez’ family and her friends. This is truly shocking, and we hope that they find whoever did this, and treat them the same.
Will this affect Victor Martinez and his training in becoming the #1 bodybuilder in the world at the 2009 Mr. Olympia. How can it not? But Victor should press on ahead and dedicated his performance to his sister, for we cannot let evil stop us from what we do.
Victor Martinez, speaking on ABC News said “We loved our sister very much. Mother, grandmother. It is a horrible loss right now. I just hope that when they catch this guy, that the full extent of the law goes down upon him. She was the head of the family. She was also like a mother to us, to all of us”.
Farmington, CT May 22nd, 2009 — To further celebrate their 30th anniversary, Ultimate Nutrition announced today a partnership with the 2009 Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend. The Olympia Weekend, currently known as “The 2009 Olympia Weekend,” will now be known as “Ultimate Nutrition presents Joe Weider’s 2009 Olympia Weekend brought to you by Bodybuilding.com.”
The 2009 Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend is scheduled to take place at the Orleans Arena and the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada between Sept. 24, 2009 and Sept. 27, 2009 and is the premier event in bodybuilding.
“Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend is the top event in the bodybuilding world, and it is a perfect match for Ultimate Nutrition products,” said Brian Rubino, Vice President, Ultimate Nutrition. “Ultimate Nutrition has stood for quality and innovation for 30 years and having the opportunity to present the 2009 Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend is another great event of our 30th anniversary celebration.”
About Ultimate Nutrition.
Ultimate Nutrition was founded in 1979 by Victor H. Rubino. At the time Victor was one of the top amateur power lifters in the United States. Driven by a goal to become the best, Victor knew that supplements were the key to improving his performance through increased strength and faster recovery. Not satisfied with the current supplements that were available to him the 1970’s and being a biochemist himself, Victor decided to launch his own company Ultimate Nutrition. Victor’s goal was to create high quality, thoroughly researched products at an affordable price for everyone.
