Phil Heath Interview

Phil Heath gives an in-depth interview with Bodybuilding.com. Heath says, “I’m probably the only guy on paper right now who could be a multiple Olympia champion and possibly break the record, but with the sport growing each year with more guys, I don’t know if there’s another Phil Heath lurking around. I don’t know if another guy has figured it out who might be better than all of us.”

ON Welcomes NPC Bodybuilder Tobias Young As Athlete

Up and coming NPC Bodybuilder, Tobias Young, joins the ON Athletes team and looks forward to even greater gains – in the gym and on the stage. Optimum Nutrition has joined forces with Tobias Young, who placed an impressive 2nd in the Heavyweight Class at last month’s NPC San Francisco Bodybuilding & Figure Championships. The 33 year old has an extremely impressive physique at 5-feet, 11-inches and 235 pounds. His favorite exercise is dual cable lat pull downs, because of the extra ‘squeeze’ he gets at the bottom of each rep to build his imposing back.

Tobias’ inspiration? “When I was about 5 years old, I was a fan of The Incredible Hulk on TV. I’d strut around ripping off my shirt and flexing. Since then, I’ve been working hard to put on muscle. In fact, I’ve been training for 20 years,” he said. After stints as a high school and college football player, Tobias found his calling. “I competed in my first bodybuilding competition at the 2002 NPC Border States show, where I placed 2nd in the Novice Class.” Determined to post an even better performance, he won his class at the 2004 NPC Pacific USA Naturals and followed that with an Overall win at the MCRD Muscle Madness competition two weeks later. Watch for more impressive performances in the years to come, and check the ON Athletes Page at www.optimumnutrition.com/team.php for upcoming appearances at gyms and nutrition retailers. 2008 Mr. Olympia ‘Experts’ Video

Ok, well maybe we aren’t the ‘experts’ out there, but Lonnie Teper, Isaac Hinds, and Ron Avidan do manage to have lots of fun, and enjoy the Olympia weekend to it’s fullest. Right after the results of the 2008 Mr. Olympia, we made a video discussing on what we thought, who won, and if our predictions that we made actually came true.

Here is the video of ‘The Experts’ that evening.

2008 IFBB Mr. Olympia Experts Discussion Video

IFBB Pro, A.D. Cherry’s response to his invitation to the 2008 Arnold Classic.

We asked IFBB pro bodybuilder A.D. Cherry how he felt upon learning that he was invited to the 2008 Arnold Classic. Here is his response:

I really feel great! I feel like this is an acceptance and and an opportunity to show my look and physique on the pro stage. I couldn’t ask for much more. I have never even been to Columbus before. This whole experience is just going to be great. I woke up today, the day after I learned I was invited, and said ‘I just cant believe it!’. I am really excited, happy and fired up. That is the motivation you need to get ready for this show.

This year, I had my first Christmas at my house, with my son and girlfriend, and we had the full Christmas dinner, turkey, stuffing and potatoes. The next evening, we went to the owner of Gold’s Gym Modesto for dinner, and now I am in some serious training, and I have eight weeks to get ready. I am going to do exactly what I did for the NPC Nationals, except to shoot for being 5lbs heavier with the same conditioning, but a little better.

I am focusing on bringing up my chest, and also the overall size of my legs. I want them to be thicker, and really striated then ever before. Wow, it will be exciting to be up on the Arnold stage with a great set of competitors, and I am looking forward to it. You got to have some new faces up on the Arnold stage, and I am going to work really hard to bring a good routine and presentation. It is an honor to be invited.
