Vince Taylor: Out of the PDI, back to the IFBB!
July 17, 2006

  • On April 10th, Vince Taylor appeared on a Pro Bodybuilding Radio show, and said that he is definitely headed to the PDI - no question about it. However, as we all know, things can change in this bodybuilding world. With rumors starting last week and over the weekend, spilling on to the Getbig bulletin boards, people started to post that Vince has changed his mind. But there was a video last month with Vince saying that he never signed any contract? What is going on?

On July 17th, Bob Cicherillo remarked on the current radio show. According to Vince, Vince may have signed the contract but he never paid to be part of the PDI? The question is now - will Wayne do anything legal about it now that Vince has flipped flopped.

Here is a statement from Vince Taylor on the radio show "Let's set the record straight. As of the fans know, I made an announcement back in March of this year of my intentions to retire from the IFBB and join the PDI later in the year. I have spent many hours talking to Wayne DeMilia this year about his dream and the development of the PDI. I liked the concept and what he was planning and promising to do, so I decided I would support him once my obligation with the IFBB were fulfilled. Unfortunately, once I was in a position to speak with Wayne, and see what the PDI was realistically offering me, I had a decision to make, and my decision is to remain with the IFBB.

I did sign the contract to compete in the NOC, which is a PDI event, however, I have not officially joined the organization according to its own requirements. Let's also set the record straight that no one had offered me any money to represent or endorse any company, or to stay with the IFBB to this day. There was no conspiracy, no one was playing anybody, it was strictly the best decision I could make to support my family. See you at the Mr. Olympia"

Vince is considered one of the best posers in the bodybuilding world, and while approaching 50 years old, Vince can still duke it out with the rookies and seasoned pros, qualifying this year for the Mr. Olympia, an impressive feat after not competing for a couple of years.

Here is a statement from Wayne DeMilia to the radio show: "Vince Taylor has always been a member of the IFBB. He has never resigned, nor was he suspended. PDI does not prevent our athletes from being members of other organizations or from competing in other organizations contests. However, PDI does have a signed contract, dated June 18, 2006, from Vince Taylor to compete in NOC."

Also, here is the signed contract that Vince Taylor himself signed, and faxed to Pro Division. If he does pull out of the contest as he just indicated, then according to the contract below, a breach of contract will result in legal action by Pro Division Inc. Will the PDI just let this go, or will the PDI start some legal action? What will happen? We won't know until the the prejudging of the Night of Champions, if Vince will flip flop again.
