Whole Foods in Downtown San Francisco Closes Due to Spiraling Crime

Increased drug use and crime near the Whole Foods on Eighth and Market, which opened just one year ago, contributed to the store’s closing, a city hall source told the San Francisco Standard.
“We are closing our Trinity location only for the time being,” a Whole Foods spokesperson said in a statement. “If we feel we can ensure the safety of our team members in the store, we will evaluate a reopening of our Trinity location.”

There is a Walgreens next to where i get my dry cleaning done.
A few weeks ago some lady got attacked by a homeless guy exiting the front door of the store.
It's a known homeless area that most people try to avoid.
So, this lady organized a protest against Walgreens to employ security guards.
During the protest in front of this Walgreens, the SAME homeless guy walked up next to the group of people protesting and pissed on the sidewalk in front of everyone. ;D
The police did nothing and typically do nothing about homeless people, it's like they are a protected species.
And yes, i live in a Democratic controlled City that is anti-police.

Vince, why would someone prefer your online grocery site versus the big corporations like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Target or Walmart?
I price items at only a 45% markup rather than at retail as with Whole Foods & Amazon and then let Google do the rest. Google will almost always list the site with the lowest price for products. Its not perfect because these companies will show up first along with everyone else who pays a higher ad budget but for someone looking for the lowest price, its a given that they would go to my site. So far in the past 3 months, I've done about 7500 on the website, 1500 on phone call orders and about 200 on sending someone a Paypal or Stripe Invoice.
It may not sound like a lot of money but I built the site for a little under 150 bucks...SSL certificate, Helpdesk Chat, Stripe Module, and Google XML generator. Because it runs on my server with the other 15 websites I run, the only thing I have to pay is about 20 dollars a year on SSL and domain name renewals...no Shopify fee or yearly licenses . At this point, I spend about 20 minutes a day processing orders and uploading inventory updates if any that but making about 900 a month for practically no work is pretty good. I plan to upgrade the Stripe module tommorrow to allow customers to do a Quick Buy and even finance their purchases with Klarma and Affirm.
Ever since I left Verizon, I've just been doing Youtube and running my websites to pay the bills. I've also started building and selling websites on Flippa as well.

As you know overhead for a grocery store is relatively low (about especially large chain stores), most items aren’t paid for until the actually go through the register.
Sunk costs are what they are but you eliminate 99% of those by being an online retailer. No shopping carts or refrigerators that you need you to account for.

The city has been known for awhile to have cracky homeless people and such like I saw, but it was still a pretty cool place that reminded me of a hilly Manhattan more than I ever thought it would.
Pictures I’ve seen sometimes look like a different place than I was in.
This is what all modern cities could become as time goes on.
Reminds me of when Biff from Back to the Future was in control of hill valley or whatever it was called.

How are your prices versus standard stores?
I sell my products with a 45% margin but with shipping, a brick and mortar is always better. What i see is people ordering stuff they cant get in a regular store
But this month, i have 86 orders, with revenue at 3500 and i sold 600 items in all so im not selling huge amount. My other sites have much less orders but the profit margins are much higher.

I sell my products with a 45% margin but with shipping, a brick and mortar is always better. What i see is people ordering stuff they cant get in a regular store
But this month, i have 86 orders, with revenue at 3500 and i sold 600 items in all so im not selling huge amount. My other sites have much less orders but the profit margins are much higher.

Residents and business owners are fined heavily for any minor variance violation like putting out garbage in the wrong allotted hours but a homeless person can crap in front of someone's house without penalty. If you don't pick up after your dog you will be fined $319 if a cop sees it. The trick is to say it's your crap then no ticket.

Reading the article, I don’t really disagree with this. The problem is that the laws encourage shoplifting. So, now you got some poor fuck stocking shelves in a position to have to go after potentially violent shoplifters on a regular basis.
The way to deal with this is stronger shoplifting laws and a greater police presence in the area.

There is a Walgreens next to where i get my dry cleaning done.
A few weeks ago some lady got attacked by a homeless guy exiting the front door of the store.
It's a known homeless area that most people try to avoid.
So, this lady organized a protest against Walgreens to employ security guards.
During the protest in front of this Walgreens, the SAME homeless guy walked up next to the group of people protesting and pissed on the sidewalk in front of everyone. ;D

They only allow 5 people in at a time and escort you around the store.
All because they have been losing $10k a month on theft from homeless people and other degenerates that steal. They are not allowed to touch the thieves or risk getting arrested. The Police do not punish these people because they are only stealing a $100-200 or so at a time. Filling up backpacks with liquor and just walking out the door. Many of these people are doing this multiple times a day.

Opening up another online grocery website soon. GrocersKitchen.com will sell bulk groceries from another distributor. I only have a 20 dollar budget so I'll build it using an older Opencart version. Things are going so well that I had to buy extra web hosting.....Greengeeks gave me a deal at 2.95 a month if I pay a year in advance
The only other option for a name was Grocery Czar which was too liberal and Cox Grocery for obvious reasons.

Well, I found out yesterday that the distributor was dead on arrival but I went ahead and finished building a working site for The Grocer's Kitchen anyway to show you guys I always finish a project I start. Because its a dead site, I've not installed or set up a theme or card processing system, only Paypal so I didn't spend any money ultimately. I built the site on Opencart 2.3.0.2 but its not compatiable with InventorySource's automation system. I could rebuild it using Magneto but the wholesale pricing is retail for most stores so I wouldn't get any sales for the site unless someone doesn't care about spending money. I used Bangalla as a distributor for my stores in the past but it appears that things have changed to where they are more focused in selling memberships than selling products.
To summarize, The Grocer's Kitchen https://GrocersKitchen.com is a FAILED project as it stands. What I'll likely end up doing is deleting the entire site, rebuild in WooCommerce and set it back up as a food blog as it was in 2006 and sell Esutra or Watkins Products on it....prob Watkins since I'm not going to spend 300 dollars a year to sell 350 products at a 20% discount. Its irritating but no risk no reward.
