whenever i see someones video i compare them to the equipment because thats the only way you can really get a true comaprison of what their size is like and you look big next to the equipment, both tall and thick, just my .02 cents though.

Here is another. I would have liked to go deeper but i just took my arms parallel to the ground. I usually do just 3 plates my last set and ive gotten up to 10 good reps with that before. 3 plates and a 5 was the best i had done until i got this home and realized i put a 10 on instead. I only got 4 reps. He had to spot me on the last 2 but you only see 2 reps alone.

3 plate shoulder press is always impressive, smith or barbell.

I might but it is just to spend some time with Donald Brook. Nothing serious. I usually take Thursdays off. The muscles may have left the midget but the intensity still remains. I won't be visiting family since the are all the way across state.

I bet Brookers has some wonderful Oats Stuffing, Walden Farms Pudding, a can of Green Beans and some low fat Deli Turkey Lunch Meat waiting for your Thanksgiving Feast tomorrow.

Jezebelle and I are probably just going to yard work and I will finish painting the deck and then train legs.  Perhaps I will beat Daddywaddy up on Xbox. haha

Well, I have improved greatly, but a lot of that game rides on pure chance.  Its totally random when you get a knockout punch or one that stuns you, so its not really totally skill per se.  Hes very good though and probably one of the best I have played on there so far.

Your frame wont support it for long. You have tiny joints. Lift accordingly.

TA, Give him time and he'll be winning shows in any state. And then on to conquer the world ... or sumting.

Best potential bodybuilder I've seen in the past few years... In fact.. a lot of the past few  years.

Good luck in nursing school, Leaf. Will you be keeping us up to date while in school?
Got a niece who is a nurse here in Cal. and  I think she is making over $100,000 and possibly $120,000 according to other nosey family members.

Is that possible. Leaf?

RETRACTION:

According to a reliable website, nurses make the following income:

Nursing Care Facility   $42,590
Hospital   $40,250
Physician's Office   $37,480
Home Health Care Services   $42,550
Community Care Elderly Facility   $42,270

Some say you can double+ those figures with overtime.

Sorry for the intrusion, Leaf.

I did the same and just to motivate you, it works. You'll get out of it !!! Nursing can be boring sometimes to learn with the ''caring'' theme they emphasize on in school, but when you're at the hospital it's a lot of fun. Lots of pharmacology, nutrition, orthopedics/skeletal-muscular system, etc...
I know your buddy is now a nurse, but if you have any question it will be my pleasure to help.

Yess exactly, with overtime and bonus depending of the department, if you work on a specialized unit, if you work at night, etc...

Brutal... if you add all those "reps" up together, the bar might have actually moved an inch or two! And I won't even comment on your ludicrous form in the shrugs video you posted, except to say if you haven't injured yourself yet you are very, very, very lucky.

Reps looked easy on the presses. No idea if these inch movements are really useful.
Once saw an interesting training video on the MD website - dude was a powerlifter and said that he did rack pulls with really big weights and that although they wouldn't build strength they were awesome muscle/thickness adders.

My thoughts on low reps with heavy weights and partial reps, are that they will add power so that on your lighter sets, you can use more weight after a time, also they`ll help strengthen tendons and ligaments.

Personally, I do a full range of motion on everything all the time................ I do half reps on certain movements at the end of a set when full reps are no longer possible,in an effort to extend the set and get a "burn" in the muscle I`m training.

This is not a knock on Dans training, because whatever he`s doing,it`s working as he looks fucking great.

I`d go lighter with a full range of motion myself, but I don`t look anywhere near as good as Dan (Leafy).

If it works,great...........but be careful.

LIFT AS HEAVY AS YOU CAN IN A RANGE OF MOTION THAT ACTUALLY WORKS YOUR MUSCLE....YOU MAY HAVE SHORT BELLIES, LONG BELLIES. JUST WORK IN THAT RANGE OF MOTION, HEAVY THOUGH. YOU GOTTA BE BREATHING HARD AFTER THE GODDAMN SET AND SWEATING SOON.

if its working fine,,,depending on arm length and normal rom for one's body ,locking out may not be possible,,your building muscle with tension and load.

Agreed. I think locking out is dangerous for joints as well. I am a bodybuilder, not a powerlifter. As long as i'm moving the weight under control that is all that matters. You don't want to lock out with heavy weight. See Jason Huh training videos. These guys flaming me are the same guys doing bench presses to the neck to "build upper pecs" and blowing their shoulders out from lock out movements on bench, etc. I have yet to have a joint related injury. I have hurt my muscles/ tendons before but nothing major.

I have a muscular imbalance i am working on. I am well aware of this. I have tried to get massage to loosen up the tighter side. You can see it in my back double bicep earlier on in the year when i was dieting down.

i agree with most but disagree with the notion implied here that you need a full range of motion for certain exercises to cause growth. for example, most people do bench for their pecs and some people don'tt go to top the 1/4th of the lift, the lockout, which is perfectly fine as it mostly targets the tris.

though, i feel for some muscles a stretch is necessary for them to grow, like biceps. i can't get them to grow very well unless i'm getting a full stretch and a strong contraction at the top of the lift.

here's something for you to watch before you do shoulders again. You can't watch this massive natural bodybuilder doing a set of shoulder presses with 315lbs for reps and not be impressed.

Someone needs to warn him of his low back...

Oh wait...

I just did.

Wait til you get to be an old man like me. I used perfect form and very heavy weights and it still took its toll on me. It's inevitable...

Very impressive!  Even with a spot not many people can barbell curl three plates.

What Ron Harris can is is more than most people can do - HOWEVER

A decently strong guy who trained with that ROM for a few weeks would get way way stronger very quickly. Its like doing rack pulls I know a 140lb guy who can rack pull 660lbs - from about 4-5" short of lockout

You can see where he starts to bring it around the chin level how much harder it is for him. That ROM is very specific and I would be genuinely surprised if he could do 2-3 reps from his clavicle with 275lbs

goud i think ur the strongest shoulder presser... your just built for it i think....
especially the standing version

in regard to the 100 smith maching press... that i wouldnt put down as a show of strength

ive used smith machinche that make the weight super easy.... i mean u push the bar up on its own empty and it takes 5 seconds to come back down...
same as when people use leg press as a show of strength... nonsense.... some leg presses are super easy and allow people to pile on weight to show off....
FREE  weight is where its at

There are stronger guys than me pressing but I just enjoy shoulder pressing. There will be lots of guys on this stronger - that bbuilder turned strongman

I have never used a smith machine so it would be interesting to see the difference!

Try it and show me your video of how easy it is  :). Notice i said 300 as well. Not 335. That bar is - 35 lbs.

Honestly, LB, what's the point? You didn't do one full rep. And that whole "focus on the range of the muscle" or whatever is bullshit, your shoulder don't stop moving when the bar gets to your nose and the top of your head. ::)

Why not lighten up and do full range, chin to lockout?

When I use smith I do 5 sets ending with 315 3 plates. Side
And sometimes that's my second excersise that's after dumbell presses sometimes ending at 130s
So nope that's. It hard :-\
Good press what I'm saying is smith machines are deceptive some are easy and I wouldn't use that as a show of strength

Quick question goud when your doing standing shoulder presses what stance works better for you legs both straight across or one leg behind for balance

SteroidAbuser78.... Feet side by side, open about shoulder width is more difficult because you use your abs/lower back to stabilize the body during the press, split stance takes a lot of that out of the move, if you want to build power keep your feet side by side. Even in the "jerk" when the legs are split the move isn't complete until the legs are side by side. For some real fun try feet together, legs stiff. ;)

When I do shoulder press with a Barbell, I usually clean it and then sit down with it on my Shoulder Bench and then press it from clavicle to lockout.  Being that my arms are abnormally long, if I did the 90 degree upper arm and elbow stopping point (traditional way I think) I literally would move it 1-2 inches and not get anything out of it.

I am able to do my bodyweight for 10 cleaning and then clavicle to lockout which I don`t think is too bad at all.

There is no one way to train thats for sure, its different for everyone and different in many circumstances.

This may change over time,so always keep an open mind.

So you are telling me you want to put a 300+ lbs load with your humerus at a negative 45 degree angle with the only thing holding it in place is a strip of tendon? Go for it man. Remember you used momentum to get it past the bottom half. It's not safe. You can only get away with it for so long.

going down to your chin is dumb, unnecessary and just asking for an injury

Just to the crease of the head or just below 90 degrees. You can go ahead and go below shoulders. That is fine with lighter weight. I'd personally try to avoid it.

Why does Palumbo always say, without FAIL, "It looks like you're doing a little [X bodypart] training"?  Isn't that obvious from the footage?  And why is it always a "little" whatever? :D

But to this guy's credit, I fully agree:  on behind-neck press, ear-level is PLENTY low enough.  Front press?  Chin or even Adam's Apple is probably better, even if it involves "more of the upper chest" as Liberatore said.

Honestly I cannot comment as I do not do these but i will start but just a few thoughts:

If that was the case would you just not use lower weight but fuller ROM

Also if you are seated I do not think you could use momentum?

Like I said I have not tried these but i will and get back to you man!
