If people are getting injured, use less weight. Then you don't need that silly blockboard.

Those are for "board pressing" in Powerlifting. Idea is to over-load the weight to work on a sticking point at lockout.
So a guy who may be able to bench 500, will stick 585 on, bring it down to a point where it isn't as low as chest. Otherwise it may never leave his chest.

I just used that as an example, but thats how they do it. Use a weight they normally cant bench cleanly (touching chest) to overload the lockout.
