Jumping with weight is a great power exercise. I think you have to use light weights so it reduces the chances of injury but increase intensity by jumping with all you got. I couldn't see using anything other than light weights jumping with a barbell or dumbbell. If I wanted to use heavy weights I would use a power clean or a snatch for a power developing exercise.
I think it would be like plyometrics which i have used before, yes power cleans are an excellent exercise.

I train very simply these days..back to the roots. Like in Martial arts you go a full circle & return to being a humble white belt.
Incidentally i question more & more the bowing & ass licking in some martial arts.
I watched a video the other day where some guy was begging an Okinawan master to train him multiple times.
I mean go into a boxing Gym or Sambo in Russia do they lick the trainers ass? respect yes but not crawling like a snail to some guy who probably works in a bank.
I actually experienced this years ago with a Jui Jitsu (Japanese) Sensei.
Guy really loved the bowing & kissing his ass. He worked in a Bank & probably never had a real fight in his life.
At the time i was working for Baker Hughes the US Oil Firm & worked later when a Tool was needed on a drilling platform. showered there & went to training. Got to the mats & some guy said, stop ! Sensei has to allow your entry on to the mats. I said just fuck off & walked on the mats.
I left to join another club doing Judo as they thought i was a rough guy  ::)

was out doing my mid morning cycle this morning & i just do a tour that hits my cardio just right but not too much & i saw this guy who obviously takes it more seriously than me with his Bike.
thing is he was not on the great cycle paths we have here but on a very busy road acting like he was a car driver.

I have a good friend who is an extreme cardio junkie & competes at high levels , Iron Man & such.
He told me the reason for this, the cycle paths are not as smooth on the wheels as the roads.
Is it worth puting your life at risk i asked him?
He said, yes.
These people are just as insane as Bodybuilders !

I went last night to a new Gym where i live as i seriously was thinking about joining a commercial  Gym again.
although they had great machines especially Hammer Strength it was just too busy & Loud for me.
Maybe im just a Grumpy old fart  :D
The have pensioned me off now so i have much more time to do what i want.
Feels strange to be on early pension  :)

Oh yes I have my own equipment at home, certainly enough to do what I need to do.
A friend of mine wanted to look at the new Gym too so I thought why not look.
Obviously the evenings are busiest but maybe early mornings better.
Just really interested in the machines they have.
I always liked working out on the Hammer machines.

Weather is getting a bit cooler here but perfect for my cycling tours.
I was out very early this Sunday morning...no cars, peace & quiet
My pumper got a great workout...indeed my calves & Quads are getting in great shape.
Regular cycling definitely helps with leg extensions too & I make sure my hamstrings get worked.
No muscular dysbalance which could cause an injury

yes they are... i remember one Gym i worked in some years back i did more chin ups than rows & a fellow Trainer there had the Biggest Lats i´ve ever seen.
I said it must be the chins as i saw him doing (as i did, wide grip chins behind his neck)...no he said it was the Hammer Strength Rows.
Honestly his lats were wide & thick.
