I wouldn't call it shocking.  Many of us predicted that Evan would win.

its a joke that evan is placed ahead of dex...absolute joke.

it just reinforces that BB is about size and conditioning..and thats it.

no more is it about balance and symmetry, as well as lines...

it hasnt been about that for a long time i guess... but this is the final nail in the coffin for BB as a pursuit to build the BEST body.

its about who can build the biggest and best conditioned.

Evan is impressive i guess!   Just not a physique I admire.

Dex's midsection did look soft during prejudging in those early pics.  And Evan was lifetime best and as big as a house.

Ain't nothing wrong with that - the other three qualities you mentioned - balance, symmetry, and lines (whatever they are) come a distant second anyway and always have done. Size and conditioning will always be what the fans want to see first and foremost.

Congrats to Evan for the win - still unbeaten as a pro.

Ratings-wise... evan is probably another win.  It's an upset, people are talking about it, etc.  If Dexter wins, it's "of course he won, he was ten times better than everyone"

I couldn't quite call this SOS Ronnie/Gunter upset, but it's news.

rubbish. frank zane was the epitome of the example.

haney won because he had size and proportions.

yates won because he had proportions also- AND size...but there were several years that his size didnt make him the best- levrone was the best on at least one occasion.

Labrada was best on another.

Coleman had size and proportion. Dex has had Jay virtually every year and been awarded just once.

Columbu was an aberration.

before people go on about Ray...he was never as good as Dex, and with the exception of arguably one year, never deserved an O.

Evan was thrashed in comparisons next to Dex. FTR Gunter fair and square beat Coleman that time and arguably had him at the O also that same year.

was dex just getting punished for not looking as good as he did at the O?

was evn just being rewarded for the sake of 'we need something exciting for BBing in 2011, and Zach Khan is still hurt"?

Bob Chick has said it on numerous occasions of the the silent criteria's is..."How does the competitor look from HIS last show...in this case, Evan did make considerable improvements.

My problem with Dex is he is always on and make very little improvements so to many he looks the same....and I think he gets penalized for this..

Evan has no front lat spread at all!

Add to that, the punishment that Dex receives for not looking quite as tight as he did at the O.  He gave the judges nothing to be excited about.  A so-so night from Kobe and the Lakers still usually win.  imagine if the refs gave "bonus points" to the other team because their star was delivering some cool dunks or passes they hadn't seen from him before.  That surely wouldn't be fair.

We've seen it many times before, big names marked down because of sub-par conditioning.  Last year's Olympia, Kai was 7th because of it.  It's good to see the judges not give Dexter a pass.

Kobe can have an off night and still win because he has 4 other guys on his team... This was one on one competition. Dexter didnt get "docked points "because he was off his best, he lost to Evan because Evan looked BETTER than Dex. Had Dex been 100%, then he would have beated a 100% Evan

Definitely the quote of the year so far.
