Remember when social media companies tried to limit the spread of the Hunter Biden story claiming all sorts of BS excuses such as it was "hacked material" or deemed false by "fact checkers" etc.

Facebook and Twitter restrict controversial New York Post story on Joe Biden

Wed 14 Oct 2020

Facebook and Twitter took steps on Wednesday to limit the spread of a controversial New York Post article critical of Joe Biden, sparking outrage among conservatives and stoking debate over how social media platforms should tackle misinformation ahead of the US election.

In an unprecedented step against a major news publication, Twitter blocked users from posting links to the Post story or photos from the unconfirmed report. Users attempting to share the story were shown a notice saying: “We can’t complete this request because this link has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially harmful.” Users clicking or retweeting a link already posted to Twitter are shown a warning the “link may be unsafe”.

Twitter said it was limiting the article’s spread due to questions about “the origins of the materials” included in the article, which contained material supposedly pulled from a computer that had been left by Hunter Biden at a Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019. Twitter policies prohibit “directly distribut[ing] content obtained through hacking that contains private information”.

Conservative satire site Babylon Bee REFUSES to delete tweet calling transgender Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine 'Man of the Year' despite being blocked from Twitter

Conservative Christian satire website The Babylon Bee has been suspended by Twitter over a tweet naming transgender US Assistant Secretary of Health Dr Rachel Levine its 'Man of the Year.'

Despite facing the prospect of a permanent ban from the social media platform, where it has 1.3 million followers, the website has struck a defiant tone, refusing to delete the offending tweet targeting the trailblazing government official.

'Truth is not hate speech,' Seth Dillon, the website's CEO, tweeted on Sunday. 'If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.'

On March 15, The Babylon Bee's Twitter account fired off a tweet featuring a link to an article bearing the headline: 'The Babylon Bee’s Man Of The Year Is Rachel Levine.'

It came in response to USA Today's decision to name Levine as one of its women of the year, and as controversy continues to rage over transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

The story repeatedly used male pronouns to refer to Levine, who identifies as a woman, 'dead-named' her by using her male birth name, and mocked her appearance, describing the senior health official as being 'the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman.'

The article continued: 'He is also an admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!

LOL!

The Babylon Bee's Man Of The Year Is Rachel Levine

The Babylon Bee has selected Rachel Levine as its first annual Man of the Year.

Levine is the U.S. assistant secretary for health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he serves proudly as the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman. He is also an admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!

Rachel's original name is Richard Levine, but he changed it to Rachel for some strange reason a few years ago. Who cares? Who says a dude as accomplished as this can't be named "Rachel?" This king doesn't care what people think about him! He often wears a dress, which some people think is weird—but he doesn't care one bit. Come on! Men in India wear dress-type garments, don't they?

Rachel's message is to "be true to yourself," and we couldn't agree more. This man is breaking barriers and showing us all the true meaning of courage.

We applaud this precious and perfectly made child of God for all his accomplishments and hope he stays true to who God made him to be.

UPDATE: Since announcing this award, we've been told that Levine actually identifies as a woman. We have still chosen to give the award as his self-identification has no bearing on the truth. Congratulations, Rachel Levine!

Professor Settles Big in Lawsuit Over Rejecting Student's Preferred Pronouns
By Luca Cacciatore    |   Monday, 18 April 2022

A Shawnee State University professor who refused to use the preferred pronouns of a biologically male student in 2018 won $400,000 from the school in a legal settlement last week, according to Alliance Defending Freedom, his legal representative.

Philosophy Professor Nicholas Meriwether is also now permitted to use, or avoid using, titles or pronouns when referring to or addressing students as part of the agreement. The university is also rescinding a warning it issued to him more than three years ago.

The arrangement follows a lawsuit from Meriwether filed in November 2018, in which he alleged that the school violated his religious freedom and First Amendment rights when they punished him for refusing to use the requested pronouns.

The 6th District U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in March 2021 that the university, which is in Portsmouth. Ohio, across the Ohio River from Kentucky, did indeed violate Meriwether's free speech rights, even after he offered to use any name the student requested instead of titles and pronouns.

''This case forced us to defend what used to be a common belief — that nobody should be forced to contradict their core beliefs just to keep their job,'' said ADF senior counsel Travis Barham.

''Dr. Meriwether went out of his way to accommodate his students and treat them all with dignity and respect, yet his university punished him because he wouldn't endorse an ideology that he believes is false.

''We're pleased to see the university recognize that the First Amendment guarantees Dr. Meriwether — and every other American — the right to speak and act in a manner consistent with one's faith and convictions.''

The university maintains its official statement that it denies ''anyone at Shawnee State deprived Dr. Meriwether of his free speech rights or his rights to freely exercise his religion,'' the Daily Caller reported.

Parent speaks after Sarasota School Board tosses her for what she was 'about to say'

A Sarasota County, Florida, parent who was kicked out of a school board meeting this week for what she was "about to say" said Thursday that the board's liberal majority is "destroying our school district, targeting parents and eliminating dissent."

Melissa Bakondy, a mother of four, was surrounded by police officers and ejected from a Sarasota County School Board meeting Tuesday after calling out a board member by name over comments she allegedly made during a previous meeting.

"At the last meeting, Shirley Brown was caught on the microphone –" Bakondy said during the meeting before being cut off.

"Stop talking about school board members," board Chairwoman Jane Goodwin interrupted. "You cannot go and expound on school board members. I’ve warned you several times."

When Bakondy asked why, Goodwin responded, "You were about to say something horrible about Shirley Brown. … You’ve said things about me that were untrue. Leave, please."

Goodwin then asked Bakondy, "Do you have children in our school district?"

The question prompted an audible gasp from conservative board member Bridget Ziegler, who fired back, "That is not appropriate. … You don’t get to ask people who come to a public meeting whether they have children or not. Period. You are way out of line."

Speaking to Fox News Digital in an interview, Bakondy slammed Goodwin as "the queen of no public input."

She and Ziegler claimed that Goodwin and the other two liberal board members are intent on shutting down the First Amendment rights of parents.

"Every citizen taxpayer and parent has a right to speak at public meetings and share their input," Bakondy said. "Ms. Goodwin doesn’t want to hear that. … This is the ultimate form of censorship, and they are destroying our school district, targeting parents and eliminating dissent."

"I do have four children, and three of them will be going back to public school next year, and after this, I worry that they're a target," she added.

Protecting the President: Big Tech Censors Biden Criticism 646 Times Over Two Years

Joseph Vazquez and Gabriela Pariseau

April 21, 2022

Big Tech’s campaign to protect President Joe Biden and his agenda has continued unabated. The Media Research Center found more than 640 examples of bans, deleted content and other speech restrictions placed on those who criticized Biden on social media over the past two years. This included 140 cases of Big Tech censoring people over the New York Post’s bombshell Hunter Biden story in late 2020.

MRC Free Speech America tallied 646 cases in its CensorTrack database of pro-Biden censorship between March 10, 2020, and March 10, 2022. The tally included cases from Biden’s presidential candidacy to the present day.

The worst cases of censorship involved platforms targeting anyone who dared to speak about any subject related to the New York Post bombshell Hunter Biden story. The Post investigated Hunter Biden and the Biden family’s allegedly corrupt foreign business dealings. Big Tech’s cancellation of that story helped shift the 2020 election in Biden’s favor. Twitter locked the Post’s account for 17 days. In addition, Twitter slapped a “warning label” on the GOP House Judiciary Committee’s website for linking to the Post story.

Big Tech even axed those who blamed the current inflation crisis on Biden. For example, Facebook censored Heritage Action, the advocacy arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation, on March 15, simply for posting a video quoting Biden’s embarrassing statements on energy policy. Facebook placed an interstitial, or filter, over Heritage Action’s video, suppressing the post’s reach. The video showed Biden and officials in his administration explaining how his policies would cause gas prices to rise.

But the largest category by far included users who dared to call out Biden's notoriously creepy, touchy-feely behavior around women and children. The 232 cases of comedic memes, videos, or generic posts about Biden’s conduct composed more than one-third of CensorTrack's total instances of users censored for criticizing the president.

In one case, a user reported that Facebook deleted a post that showed three photos of Biden kissing what is reportedly his granddaughter on the lips. It followed with a caption that said: "Find someone who kisses you the way Joe Biden kisses his granddaughter." Snapshots indicated that Facebook claimed the post violated its community standards on “nudity or sexual activity.”

Big Tech even went after posts that quoted Biden’s own words and made him look awful in retrospect. News outlet Breaking 911 posted screenshots of Instagram posts to its Twitter page on Oct. 21, 2021, showing that Instagram targeted the group for quoting Biden. One tweet quoted Biden sarcastically saying "Freedom! ...I have the freedom to kill you with my COVID. No, I mean, come on! Freedom?!”

The second Breaking 911 screenshot featured Biden lambasting former President Donald Trump's decision to leave the Paris Climate Accords. Biden was quoted saying, "When Pres. Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord...the agreement was that we could not, if we reached beyond 1.5°C increase in temperature, we're gone. Not a joke. Not a joke. And so, we decided that, he pulled out - first thing I committed to do was rejoin that accord." Instagram reportedly removed the posts. According to Breaking 911, "Instagram has again flagged the @Breaking911 account for directly quoting the President of the United States, claiming our posts promoted 'violence and incitement.’"

The list of censorship targets included an array of prominent influencers on social media: Trump; lawmakers like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); news outlets like the New York Post, The Washington Free Beacon and The Federalist; satire site The Babylon Bee; celebrities like Donald Trump Jr. and James Woods, and media personalities like Daily Wire host Candace Owens, Salem radio host Sebastian Gorka and radio host Dana Loesch.

MRC Free Speech America’s research relied on its CensorTrack database for this study. The database describes why people were censored for blasting Biden. CensorTrack is an MRC database designed to show the proof of the extent of Big Tech censorship of conservatives. The database team has logged over 3,600 overall cases of censorship on multiple Big Tech platforms concerning a myriad of issues such as elections, COVID-19, climate change and race. Each CensorTrack entry includes a written report backed up by internal records and documentation proving censorship.
