Stuck in a hotel.  Wanted to go see a movie to avoid what I predicted would be a train wreck.  Didn't like anything playing.  Stuck watching the train wreck instead.

My thoughts:

- The first question was the best question of the night:  are you better off today than four years ago.  Didn't get answered.

- Trump telling Harris that her policy positions on her website were simplistic and they are like "run spot run" made me laugh.

- Trump telling Harris he would send Harris a MAGA hat was mildly funny.

- Trump let Harris bait him on a number of irrelevant, dumb issues.  He did a poor job of staying on message.

- Harris just repeated memorized lines.  I was not impressed.

- Her abortion comments were just plain dumb.  After saying we need Roe v. Wade back, she said that in every state where abortion has come up for a vote in red and blue states the people have voted for freedom.  In other words, we don't need Roe v. Wade and Trump was right.  But she is not smart enough to understand it.

- Trump's line:  "I'm talking now.  Does that sound familiar" was a drop the mic laugh out loud moment.

- The moderators were ridiculously biased.  Repeatedly tried to fact check Trump and help Harris.  Did not fact check Harris once.  Including Harris lying about "very fine people," police officers dying on January 6, "blood bath," etc.

- Trump saying Harris should wake Biden up and get him out of bed at 4 p.m. so he can close the border was pretty funny.

- A bunch of stupid friggin questions from the moderators.  Peaceful transfer of power, did you lose the election, what color is Kamala Harris, etc.  Who the heck cares about that crap?

- Trump responding to the threat to democracy claim from Harris by saying Biden got 14 millions votes and she got none . . . talk about to threat democracy . . . was pretty good.

- Trump saying "quiet please" when Harris tried to talk over him again made me laugh out loud.

- Trump talking about how weak Harris is as demonstrated by her meeting with Zelensky and Putin invading three days later was good.

- They brought up Afghanistan, asked Harris if she bears any responsibility for how it played out, let her skate on her answer, then dropped the topic like a bad habit.  Ridiculous.

- The moderators didn't fact check Harris and Trump failed to clearly respond to Harris lying about supporting private health insurance and opposing gun confiscation.

- Talking about climate change was a waste of my time.

- Overall, Harris and her histrionics when she was not speaking looked unprofessional and non-presidential.  She sounded like someone who memorized and the repeated her lines.  Trump is unscripted and speaks more like a non-politician, but he really whiffed overall on forcing her to respond to the issues that matter.  He did hit her on her fracking lies, but not well enough.  I didn't like what I saw.

I want that two hours of my life back.  I should have gone to go see a lousy movie.

Agreed on the above. Trump performed similarly to his debate with Biden. If anything he seemed a little sleepy at first. I wouldn't say he outright "won" but rather Kamala had the most to prove and I think she blew it (no pun intended). Muir was biased with his "fact checking". Davis was a better moderator.

Kamala's shrill voice, accent and constant repetition of "understand" was extremely annoying. Also her campaign probably told her to do all those constant poses, expressions and theatrics as she is aiming for some reaction gif/memes. She did start cackling at one point but managed to stay cackle-free afterwards. Sometimes she seemed upset if Trump was not responding as she expected to her comments.

But the media will probably declare her the clear "winner". Is there another debate scheduled between Trump and Kamala?

I wouldn't say he outright won either. I'd say he shit the bed. How many times can you fit the fear mongering 100 million illegal immigrants who are from prisons, mental institutions and casting votes and eating pets into a presidential debate? about 6 or 8 times apparently

If there are ANY undecided voters after this debate I'd like to interview them.

I didn't watch the debate just saw a clip of his closing statement and he seemed to put her on the spot about how she's had 3.5 years to "fix" things, why hasn't she done it.
Are they going to have another debate? One where the moderators aren't completely biased?

So you admit you didn't bother to watch the debate, ignore he had 4 years as president to fix things, and then focus on her as vp having 3.5 to fix things and you pretend you aren't biased. Please.

My thoughts on it as I watched it:

I thought Trump made a good point about his tariffs. If they didn't like the tariffs, then they should have gotten rid of them. Harris didn't address that.

Republicans are going to get hammered on the abortion issue. Trump was trying to dodge it by hyperbole, "they're killing babies after they're born" and talking about the West Virginia governor. I don't think that will resonate with people on the fence if abortion is a major issue for them (suburban women?)

Trump was obviously trying to score major points on immigration where he is very strong and Harris is very weak. When he riffs on immigrants eating dogs and cats I think it will turn off a lot of people and not be an effective strategy for him. People who already like Trump will laugh but people on the fence will not like it.

I think Trump did a good job dodging the "Is Kamala black" bait.

Telling Harris to go wake up Biden at 4PM was hysterical. "They threw him out like a dog... where is Biden?" Is the kind of quip that I think is helpful for Trump even if it isn't addressing a political issue. People eat that up.

I think attacking Trump for negotiating with the Taliban was weak sauce. If they're in power, then that's who you talk to.

My absolute favorite part was at the end when Trump called out Biden's son for taking millions from Ukraine, Russia, China etc. I doubt it will get much media play.

Overall though I think Kamala did better than most expected. She wasn't cackling and she didn't have some "Ukraine is a country" moment. She's been coached well on her talking points and she didn't get suckered into Trump's game like Hillary did.

Not only did they not get rid of tariffs:

"MAY 14, 2024
President Biden is directing his Trade Representative to increase tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 on $18 billion of imports from China to protect American workers and businesses."

Trump missed so many softballs and could have destroyed her.

But he Trump'd it.

His abortion answers were poor and he didn't even trounce her on the border part.

Turned it off after 40 min.

She wiped the floor with him.  He just whined and lied over and over again about the same things that have been exposed as false.

People eating dogs and cats?   ::)

Jails and mental institutions being emptied and sent here?   ::)

Murdering babies after they are born?   ::)

Still no "proof" that the 2020 election was rigged.  (Despite claiming to have proof that exonerates everyone)   ::)

And the funniest part was when she baited him to go down that rabbit hole about his rallies.    :D :D :D :D

She should debate him again now.  Or maybe he will just settle for his usual middle of the night rage tweets instead.

I think she edged him in this debate.

We can poke at all sorts of things on both sides.  But IMO, She came across better.  Trump seemed to mostly attack and fear monger while she seemed, although much cliched, more focused on issues (she fear mongered too).   I missed the start.

The assertions that she couldn't handle herself in a debate seemed untrue.  She did alright.  Much better than Biden, but who couldn't do better?

I think she is going to win this election.  SMH.  How did we get here?

Like I asked that weirdo Lurker, where did Trump accept this invitation to debate the cackling Kuntmala?

Where, in that little snippet of lies you quoted, does it show that Trump agreed to debate her then backed out?

Nobody knows her position on anything other than the position that got her start in politics. She is hiding from any sort of interview or debate. ::)

Like I told the other dipshit, one is selling products, the other has her token rich white guy begging for money on youtube.

Who was running against him when he agreed to the debates ???

Good thing you didn't watch the debate.  Your TDfS would have left you in a coma.

Trump sucked and missed easy opportunities to absolutely destroy her.  I honestly feel I could have been called into sub for him, unprepared and destroyed both her and the moderators.

When she blatantly lied (Very fine / J6 / 2025) a simple comment to the moderators like "are you going to fact check her like you have been me? Because I know you know that's a lie. I'll give you a chance to correct".  It would have made them all look foolish.

But, at the end of the day, I think people vote with their wallet, and Harris is fucked here, no matter how they window dress it.

Yeah, the bias was pretty apparent. Still, though, who are swing voters going to vote for?   Many will vote with their wallets.  But, many will ask themselves do I want to vote for more of Trump (with all his baggage, legit or not) or do I want to vote for something new?  I think they will see Kamala Harrie as something newer and more hopeful than Trump.

I don't think she will be a good president.

I watched maybe 15 minutes of it before I fell asleep after coming home from a wine tasting. I feel like he was flustered and she trolled him. It sucks for him because he couldn’t keep his composure and just shoot her digs down, like the “very fine people” lie and the lie about police getting killed January 6th. He does very well when he has the upper hand, but as soon as he’s on his heels he loses it and you can tell he flustered. I’d say from what I saw, he didn’t win the debate. I’m sure she was creaming her old ass pussy with how he was melting down.

I don't think independents feel that way.  They see all the failures of the current admin and associate Harris with that.  I don't think her performance will change anyone's mind who was voting Trump.  If they vote Harris, it wasn't because of this.

Not even close.  Trump fidelity, or lack thereof, is widely known.

This laptop thing is so bizarre it almost doesn't seem real.

If the population knew the candidate's crackhead son actually did leave a laptop that provided evidence that contradicted so much of what said candidate was saying, it would have sunk him.
