I doubt the corporation pays much in taxes anyway.

What do you consider 'much'?

They have something like 18B (KBR) and 13B (HB) dollar contracts.

Surely they pay something on that 30+ billion?

Corporations pay a shitload of taxes. Why do you think they always try to have fake holding companies in the Caymens and stuff like that.

Not the good ones.   :)  The well run corporations pay out most of their profits (that aren't reinvested in the company) to shareholders, which reduces their taxable income.

Says they paid $15 million in 2002.  If true, that is a drop in the bucket.

"The real problem with Halliburton? Dick Cheney used to be the CEO. That's it. If he had headed up MTV prior to being Vice-President, the left would be constantly complaining about the latest season of The Real World and the lack of any good music videos these days."

Amusing. Also as much evidence as I need that the author is not someone worth taking seriously.

Besides, we've been complaining about the lack of videos on MTV since before Cheney seized power.

Why?

Well you said Halliburton only paid 15  million in taxes in 2002 right?  Well they didn't get major rich until after the Iraq war.

Well, the company itself is never rich.  It's the shareholders, officers, directors, and employees who make the money.

I didn't say they paid $15 million in taxes in 02.  I quoted a link that said this.  I have no idea if that number is accurate.  I also don't know what they made before 02, but I would imagine they were a Fortune 500 company before 02?

Don't know what they paid in taxes, but here is where they went on the Fortune 500 list from 01 to 06:

01: 148
02: 153
03: 153
04: 122
05: 101
06: 103

Along with Dick Cheney, one of the Halliburton people was also part of the scandal at Walter Reed.

I don't like this.  I have never been a fan of American companies outsourcing work outside of the U.S.  There is just something un-American about it.

This isn't a case of outsourcing... most of the jobs are staying in Houston.  It's just the CEO and his crew who are "moving".  I think 240 is probably closer to the truth about their motives.

We'll see.  I'll be surprised if they don't hire a significant number of foreigners to help run their operation.

If I was a market player, I'd have bought Halliburton stock the day the Supreme Court decided Bush v. Gore.
