Biden now adapts the Trump policy on Iran: It's probably too much for them to admit that Trump was right

During President Barack Obama’s administration, the State Department worked to negotiate and implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a method of limiting Iran’s nuclear ambitions for at least a while. Both Saudi Arabia and Israel see Iran as a threat and opposed the deal. But Obama, along with Secretary of State John Kerry, pushed on with the deal and signed it in 2015.

In 2018, President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the JCPOA and instituted heavy sanctions on Iran. Trump saw the JCPOA as a bad deal and was closer to Israel and Saudi Arabia than the Obama administration was.

After entering office in 2021, Joe Biden wanted to undo as much of President Trump’s policy as possible. As part of this effort he set out to revive the JCPOA deal with Iran. In exchange for Iran coming back into compliance with JCPOA terms, the U.S. would rejoin the pact. There was some disagreement between Iran and the Biden administration about how to go about that, but Biden’s State Department was trying.

Then Putin invaded Ukraine. Russia has been bogged down in this war and the Biden administration has been backing Ukraine with military aid. Ukraine has reported that the Russians have been using Iranian drones against them. Obviously, that can be viewed as Iran siding with Russia against the U.S. and the rest of the West.

In December 2022, Biden was quoted as saying the JCPOA is dead. The White House had changed policy.

Then in January 26, 2023, the head of the CIA visited Israel. On January 28, someone bombed military facilities in Iran. Many speculate the bombing came from Israeli drones. It seems likely that the Biden administration, at a minimum, approved of the Israeli operation.

Well, well, well....

This judge just isn't down with the nonstop delays and stalling tactics.  And the woman doesn't seem like she is going to settle.

Judge loses patience as Trump's lawyers ask for another delay in his rape trial: 'Things keep happening in this case involving your client'.

US District Court Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who is overseeing the upcoming rape claim trial for former President Donald Trump, balked on Tuesday at the frequent holdups coming from the defense, as Trump's new lawyer sought a six-week delay to the April trial date.

While he didn't decide on the postponement request Tuesday, Kaplan expressed concern that Trump's legal team has already caused delays in the lawsuits brought against Trump by E. Jean Carroll, who alleges he raped her decades ago and then defamed her after she spoke out.

"Things keep happening in this case involving your client. I would be a fool not to take that into account," Kaplan said Tuesday.

In October, Kaplan denied Trump's request to delay sitting for a deposition in the first lawsuit. And when Trump tried to countersue Carroll last year — two years after Carroll first sued Trump — Kaplan denied the former president, saying the lawsuit seemed to be a "bad faith" effort to delay the trial.

Carroll first sued Trump for defamation in November 2019, when he called her a liar for alleging he raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s.

After New York passed a law late last year allowing a one-year window for new sexual-assault filings beyond the statute of limitations, Carroll sued Trump for battery over the alleged sexual assault and brought a second complaint of defamation.

Joe Tacopina was hired last month to represent Trump in the second trial, which is slated to start April 17. The first trial has an April 10 trial date but is in limbo due to a pending appeals court decision.

In court on Tuesday, Tacopina asked for a six-week delay in the rape lawsuit, saying a health issue with an expert witnesses had thrown the schedule off. He also said he had "a lot of work to do" to catch up on the case and wants to fly to London for the birth of his first grandchild, whose April due date is the same as the current trial date.

He'll be ready for trial by the first week of June, Tacopina said, "come hell or high water."

Roberta Kaplan, who is representing Carroll, argued against delaying the case.

Tacopina and Roberta Kaplan declined to comment outside of the courtroom Tuesday.

Tacopina attempted to reassure the judge that he was "not coming into this case to delay" and wants it to be tried "as quickly as possible."

"I'm not running away from that obligation," Tacopina said Tuesday. "I'll be ready whenever you want me to be ready."

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-suggesting-ron-desantis-pedophile-1234675596/

Donald Trump recently has been ramping up his attacks on Ron DeSantis ahead of a potential 2024 Republican primary showdown. We’re not going to lie, we figured it take the former president a least a few more months before he started accusing the Florida governor of pedophilia.

Trump has been doing just that on Tuesday, though, sharing a few posts on Truth Social purporting to show DeSantis “grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher.”

“That’s not Ron, is it?” Trump wrote, sarcastically. “He would never do such a thing!”

    — Will Sommer (@willsommer) February 7, 2023

The New York Times reported last year on DeSantis’ time as a teacher at the Darlington School in northwest Georgia. The report notes that several students described DeSantis as “a frequent presence at parties” with seniors at the school. “As an 18-year-old, I remember thinking, ‘What are you doing here, dude?’” one former student told the Times.

The photo Trump shared on Tuesday was originally published in 2021 by a Democratic blog called The Hill Reporter, which noted that the girls in the photo were seniors when it was taken in 2002.

Surprised?  When there is nothing else to go with, Trumpturds always trot out the pedophile line.

Why is the orange turd worried about someone that hasn't even said they were running yet?    ;D

Research Firm Hired By Trump To Prove 2020 Election Fraud Came Up Empty: Report.

A research firm investigated Donald Trump’s assertion that the presidential election was fraudulent, but its findings were suppressed because they found nothing to support his claims, The Washington Post reported citing four sources familiar with the matter.

The Berkeley Research Group, hired by the former president’s 2020 campaign, gathered a team of around a dozen people to look into alleged voter fraud and irregularities in six states, according to the Post.

The team reportedly briefed Trump, his former chief of staff Mark Meadows and others on a conference call held in the last days of 2020 — before Trump held a rally urging his supporters to march on the Capitol preceding the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection. The call reportedly became contentious.

But the researchers had looked at “everything,” one source told the Post.

“Literally anything you could think of. Voter turnout anomalies, date of birth anomalies, whether dead people voted. If there was anything under the sun that could be thought of, they looked at it,” the source said.

As recently as Saturday morning, Trump has claimed that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” or “stolen” from him, pushing various conspiracy theories about voting machines and election workers.

He has made these claims even as dozens of lawsuits filed by Trump’s campaign or his allies were tossed out for lack of evidence in the weeks after President Joe Biden’s victory.

Trump continued to make his claims throughout the House select committee’s monthslong investigation, which revealed that people close to Trump repeatedly tried to tell him there was no evidence of fraud.

And apparently, he made them despite knowing that a team of professional researchers he paid to try and find evidence of fraud came up empty-handed.

The Post’s source added: “Just like any election, there are always errors, omissions and irregularities.” But the person stressed that they were not nearly enough to sway the election.

“It was nowhere close enough to what they wanted to prove,” the source said, “and it actually went in both directions.”

“It’s a really  tough situation for DeSantis,” said Tommy Vietor, a Democratic strategist who worked for Senator Barack Obama in his brutal primary race against Hillary Clinton in 2008. “If he starts punching at Trump, he’s going to anger a lot of the people he needs to vote for him.”

But, Mr. Vietor noted, “if you are viewed as weak and cower in response to attacks from Trump, that will be seen as a proxy for how you will be seen as a Republican nominee and how you’ll be as president.”

Trumpy is scared.  That’s why he is attacking Ron when he hasn’t even announced he is running yet.  And calling him a groomer.  Hahahaha. Sign of pure desperation from him.  Just like it is when his little Trumpturds on here do the same because they have nothing else.    ;D

Trump loses latest fight with New York Attorney General Letitia James over $110K contempt payment.

Donald Trump on Tuesday lost his very wordy legal fight over a $110,000 contempt-of-court payment he wants back from New York Attorney General Letitia James.

A New York appellate court spent just four paragraphs rejecting the former president's 1,000-page appeal of the contempt fine.

The panel of five appellate judges found that the fine — paid by Trump in May as punishment for flouting James' probe of his business — was "not excessive or otherwise improper."

The fine had been set last year by the same Manhattan judge presiding over James' upcoming $250 million fraud lawsuit against Trump, his three eldest children, and his real-estate and golf-resort company. That lawsuit is scheduled for trial in October.

The contempt fine was Trump's penalty for repeatedly failing to fully comply with James' subpoena for his personal business documents. Instead, Trump responded to the subpoena with delay tactics and a brief claim that a "diligent search" had failed to turn up any more documents.

Rather than produce his business records, "Mr. Trump produced 16 pages of boilerplate objections and a four-page affirmation by counsel that states, summarily, that Mr. Trump was unable to locate any responsive documents in his custody," the attorney general complained in demanding the fine.

Ultimately, Trump only ever turned over 10 personal business documents, just a fraction of the 900,000 documents totaling 6 million pages turned over in total by the Trump Organization.

In April, New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron fined Trump $10,000 a day until Trump could provide a sworn affidavit detailing the Trump Organization's document-retention policy and describing what had been done to search for the records, as the subpoena had required.

Engoron correctly found that Trump's initial subpoena-dodging "was calculated to, and actually did, impair" the attorney general's fraud probe, Tuesday's New York Appellate Division decision found.

The contempt order was lifted in June.

A lawyer for Trump did not immediately say if he will further appeal the contempt fine; the former president's $110,000 for now remains in an attorney general's office escrow account. It would eventually become part of the general funds of the office.

"Once again, the courts have ruled that Donald Trump is not above the law," James wrote in a press statement.

"For years, he tried to stall and thwart our lawful investigation into his financial dealings, but today's decision sends a clear message that there are consequences for abusing the legal system. We will not be bullied or dissuaded from pursuing justice."

Trump is worth $3.2 billion by Forbes' reckoning, but he had spared little effort in trying to get his $110,000 payment back.

The appellate brief rejected on Tuesday totaled 977 pages.

The contempt fine was "vindictive," "speculative," "improper," "punitive," "excessive," and based on "threadbare justification," attorney Alina Habba argued over the course of a 233-page Notice of Motion, a 247-page Record on Appeal, and a pair of briefs totaling 497 pages.

Trump has lost repeatedly to James' office in the lead up to October's trial. In January, Engoron rejected what he called Trump's "borderline frivolous" request to dismiss James lawsuit altogether.

Also in January, Trump dropped his efforts to challenge James' lawsuit in federal court in Florida.

In November, he lost his fight against having a court-ordered monitor watch for what Engoron called "persistent fraud" at the Trump Organization.
