Bob Sapp sucks (per video below).
Only reason he won his first few fights was because there was no "book" on him. Once people realized you just needed to move laterally for the 90 seconds it took him to gas, he started getting beaten regularly.
The way Hoost stayed in the corner during (at least one of) their fights was exactly the wrong way to fight a guy whose arm punches were powerful enough to do real damage. He should have just moved and thrown the occasional leg kick to beat Sapp.
Per Wikipedia, Sapp's kickboxing record is 11 wins and 17 losses. In MMA he has 21 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw.
To be fair, in the early days of his career, the lightly skilled Sapp only got his ass kicked by the Who's Who of combat sports with losses to CroCop, Bonjasky, Ray Sefo, Aerts, LeBanner, Big Nog, and Ironhead Fujita. These days, however, he regularly gets beat up on by no-name scrubs.
