Not so much about poundage, but he never had the genetics to do what he needed to get over the top.  He got washed up fast.  Rich had a 19 year old Shawn Ray chasing him by 1988.  Its all history now and his only bias now is when he judges ifbb shows and penalizes bigger taller compeptitors.  Now he is the judging  "dragon slayer"

Gaspari was 2nd best in the world from 85-89, not bad for a guy with narrow shoulders and a big waist.  Nobody took thier body to the limit more than Rich did in terms of development.  Everyone of his bodyparts could be on a list for "best of all time":  Quads, calves, hamstrings, glutes, back-after 88 it improved alot, abs-probably top 5 alltime, chest, shoulders...the guy took everything as far as he could.  Conditioning was the standard and he set it.  He dominated shows that didn't have haney in them.  He was just awsome.

Realistically Shawn was hyped as the next big thing and looked great when he won the nationals but he was no threat to Rich until at least 1990, in 88 shawn placed 4th at the NOC and well behind Rich at the 88 Olympia and fell off the radar for awhile.  So I don't think Rich was sweating a 19 year old shawn ray...in 1990 it was a little different story but by that time Rich had already begun to tear his body to pieces....

gaspari (regardless of his weight) isnt even close to the top names in the 90s...he was a hard worker but he didnt have the structure.

I guess I was talking more of the 80's-forgot the name of the thread ;D ;D

90's-no.  Rich just tore his body up to bad to be a factor in the 90's.  He tried a comeback in 95ish but he tried to come in waaaay to heavy for his frame and everything on him was tore, he looked really bad.  If he would have stepped onstage in the kind of shape he was in in 1986 he might have still been a factor but he didn't so he wasn't.

I still thin if you had a time machine and stuck Jay Cutler in it the day of the last olympia and put him onstage at an early 90's olympia he wouldn't win.  I honestly dont' see him beating Yates, Ray, Levrone, Labrada, Flex or Dillet using the standards they used back then.  You're supposed to be seperated and musclular, you're supposed to have a defined midsection.  Jay just looks liek a fidge with limbs, so does ronnie.  If you look at everything that BB is supposed to be there arent' that many guys in the top 10 right now who would exemplify the standards that BB is supposed to be about.  Look at the shot of Padilla, he has everything a BB should have and if judged properly would destroy most of the top 10 today.  Maybe Dexter and heath meet the requirements, maybe toney Freeman but out of the top 10 guys at the last olympia only Dex, Toney and maybe Victor demosntrate what BB is supposed to be.

WOW. He looks incredible there. BB's gone no where in the last 26 years...

Cutler's midsection is such a horror show compared to Dorian's and everyone else's from the 90's.  Compare his ab and thigh pose to Dorian at his worst and Dorian still embarrasses Cutler.

The best he could do would be 2nd or 3rd.  Jay has better arms and legs than Dorian, but so did a lot of Dorian's competition from the 90's and he still beat them soundly.

Jay's back is as watery as the Atlantic Ocean.  It's quite embarrassing when you do a side-by-side of his back to Dorian's and Ronnie's.  Don't let Cutler's watery size fool you, the guy has no more mass than Ronnie or Dorian back there.

I'm not turning this into a Dorian bashing thread as he was awesome, However, like you said Jay has way better arms and legs.  He's flat out bigger than dorian and has a better shape.  I'll agree that Dorian was dryer, but he was dryer than everyone.  I'm sure defending Mr. Olympias urine sampe was tested.   ::)

I'm sure that if Jay was able to use the same amounts of Diuretics as Dorian he'd be as dry, plus with his shape and lack of muscle tears, would look 10x better.  But who know's now that he's won the O, Maybe he'll get a pass on the tests.  I mean look at Ronnie, once he won the O do you think he ever tested positive?  It happens to second place guys like Nasser and even Jay in the past, but you don't hear about it happening to the champ.

and that is exactly my point.

in order to say Jay has a great back you have to compare him to other great backs.

Ronnie in 2006 did not have a great back anymore (relative to his prior showings)

so saying he has a better back than 2006 Ronnie isn't proving anything.

cutlers's back is ok.

his rear lat spread is much bette than his BDB.

also, his hams make him look better in those shots bc they detract away from his back.

will his back get better and become one of the best ever, time will tell.

he didn't have striations and details in 97 - he was smoothish.

and his arms were nothing like they were in 99...

stop trying to imply that Ronnie 97 was even close to Ronnie 99 or 01 AC.

you are making yourself look even more stupid (if thats even possible);

ronnie 97 vs Ronnie 98:

Dorian got his driest when he didn't use diuretics in '96...
