Arnold probably had the best look though, just massive and 5% body fat, but it's hard to look like that 24/7, the hulk look is more attainable

People still mistake water for bodyfat. Even offseason bloated bbers are near 10%.
Generally speaking you have to be around 10% or under to have visible abs.

Look more closely at Lou. Though not close to contest shape the separation between his arms and deltoids are clear. Though smooth, there is no visible slabs of fat hanging over his waist line. When displayed, he still show more separation in this quads than Franco ever did when he won the O in 1976. His flexed chest still showed some striations, rivaling Jay Cutler during his prime.

Lou is definetely bigger in those Hercules bits than in Hulk ones.

Otherwise good separation looks much " bigger " on screen than sheer bodymass.

Jeep Swenson was 400lbs in Batman ( 3 maybe? ) but didn't look nearly that big.

He wasn't. He got smoother and less muscular as the show went on, especially the last season. He was under contract and getting paid, so there was no real urgency to stay in top shape. Go look at the first episodes compared to the later ones... easy to see the difference.

Lou mentioned in an article back in the late seventies the difficulty he had staying in shape. Being able to have access to a good gym, good food, and the time necessary. He said you spend long hours on the set, a lot of it just waiting as you have to be available at a moments notice. He didn't work a traditional 8-5 job. Sometimes you're up all night and then have to get up early the next morning. And then there was the constant traveling to different locations.

High level bbing requires a strict routine and schedule. Even Ronnie once complained who difficult it was maintaining size, let alone gaining size, when he had to travel so much as the reigning Mr. Olympia. Hard to get into a routine when he are training at different gyms, eating habits and sleep schedule changing. Everything has to be on point and consistent at that level.

The trick is they do the after photo first then basically pig out on pizza and soda and then do the before photo same damn day. It is much easier to go from shredded to slob than slob to shredded. Can be done in a day

to this day his hercules movie build is his best period,,,i laughingly watched it just recent its unwatchable/dubbed horribly,effects are so bad,but he is built unreal and beats any arnold movie build .

And at 6 ft 5 or 195 cm, he was impressive. Even by today's standards.
