Title: So I bought a book off Ebay...
Post by: 240 is Back on November 29, 2008, 05:28:01 PM
and it's an unreturned library book!

Somebody got books from a library, then sold them online.

After shaking my head in disbelief, I realized some seller in idaho had managed to outwit the system.

Thoughts?

that's possible I suppose.

Is there nothing in place - except the honor system - to prevent someone from getting a library card, taking out 50 expensive books, then selling them online?

I work at my local library. If someone has an overdue book for a month we send them a notice, and then another notice each week and after 3 notices we check the shelves to make sure it wasn't returned and accidentally left on their account. If we or they can't find it we bill them the full cost of the book so even if they never come back to the library it is a legal claim on our part and they are accountable for the cost of the book.

Fuckn communists. I bet they use the books for toilet paper sometime, I bet they don't count the pages, I bet if they did they would find a lot of papers missing altogether or be stained.

We need to start an anti-library coalition group.  It's very un-American.

I bet libraries that have all the Mitsuru videos are the reason he had to stop with that business and because of it we can no longer get videos with Jay Cutler where he goes shopping at Costco, I blame the libraries for this and the communists who are behind them.
