I am but just one more week of low sets. Saw a picture of myself at a family event and thought my face looked puffy. LOL. Just want to do a quick routine and go for a run as much as I can. If my hurting body allows it I am going to try to get 5 to 6 runs in this week. I will get to volume shortly.   :)
8),,THANKS

Early morning swim this Morning and then injections again... was talking to a woman at the Doctors who had the OP done. You can hardly see the scar where they went into her throat area. Very fine indeed.

Leg day:

Leg press 1 x 15 8plates plus 10lbs. (Went really deep with backboard low.)
Squats 1 x 10 225lbs (Legs prefatigued from leg press. Went pretty low)
Machine squats 1 x 13
leg extension 1 x 23
seated leg curl 1 x 15
standing leg curl 1 x 17

Side bend holding one dumbbell 1 x 15 90lbs
Situps on incline 1 x 25
pulley crunches 1 x 30

Leg press calf 1 x 28
standing calf leg press 1 x 18 300lbs
seated calf 1 x 18 85lbs
Tibialis work with a dart 1 x 20

Neck work

No cardio today because of leg day. Left Achilles is so sore. Hope to do my "patented" ladder work out on the treadmill tomorrow if I'm capable of walking tomorrow.  :)

I've been thinking about injuries with me. Arthritis runs in the family. My sister who is 10 years older than me is disabled from it. Beginning to wonder if my injuries are related to the inflammation of the disease. Then again it just could be age. We don't stay young forever. I do know that I'm better shape than most 30 year olds when I'm able to walk without a limp.  ::)

My friend who is around 55 still competes in bench competitions with a bench cheat shirt. Since he can do 400 plus at a little over 180lbs he thinks he is in shape. He looks in terrible shape with a big gut, fat face and zero cardio ability.  Why do I bring up something that sounds so negative? Just pointing out that being in shape means having a hand in all areas of fitness.  It's isn't being in shape if you can lift a million pounds but get winded wrestling someone. It's not being able to run a good marathon time if you can't deadlift 300lbs. I know sports require specialization but being in real omni shape requires all around fitness. Off the soap box.

Maybe so, but at least it shows that we actually workout, unlike many other folks including getbiggers.

Guys that work out hard over 55 are a rare breed. If you are going into a barbell battle you can get wounded.  I would come in next to last place in a Mr. Nowhere county contest but when I take off my shirt I do get compliments on my build.  I know when healthy if a young person asks if I want to go out for a run I can keep up. Usually.  ;D

We all have to keep up the good fight. Do what we can and forget what we can't. I doubt I will never bench with a barbell again. Know what? It's not that great of an exercise anyway.

I don't call myself a bodybuilder. I'm just a guy into being fit and trying to train athletically.

I had a blood test today to check testosterone levels. If you remember my doctor put me on Clomid to raise my testosterone. I have been on it for 4 months. I really don't feel any different but I had a good training run for 4 months. Really curious if it made a difference.

I think the mechanism of Clomid is that it binds to estrogen receptors in men and the pituitary gland region in the brain puts out more luteinizing hormone to increase testosterone because it's not turned off by the aromtase of testosterone.

The results are in!!!!! I went from 297 testosterone to 559. That's well into the normal range for a 56 year old. Yes!!!

8)...nice brotha..I always loved the term'bodybuilder'as I got into 40's I say 'physique builder'meaning keeping an ideal of a build suited for ones body..that takes permabulking or super ripped 'by starving'and tossing it out the window....I use zane as an example esp after he retired...

yes good post. You get a lot of disillusioned fat lifters out there.. being all round fit is the way to go for a healthy life style.

Cardio:

I did this workout on a treadmill. My treadmill has electronic lights to show doing a lap on a track. I set the treadmill at 3.8 MPH. It's a brisk walk. I started on level grade zero incline. Every lap I increased the elevation 1% incline. When I got to 12% incline I did that lap and finished with one lap on zero incline.

Try it. Every lap go up 1% incline.

That's good news. At your age, I believe anything above 300 is considered normal by the medical profession. Don't know what it is at my age, but it likely lower yet. If being around a 1,000 is where one is during their peak years, then that is what I am shooting for. Shooting....what coincidental word. Shot a hole in my ass cheek last night....feel great today!

I have tried this or something like it. It's kinda fun to ease on up. The fastest I can go without breaking into a jog is 3.9 mph. I do something similar to you, only I start slow and low and work up to high and fast. It's a great idea to do a couple of minutes at the end at 0 incline and a relaxed walking speed. It's like cooling off your horse at the end of a ride. There are no puns intended here. Take what I posted at face value and not try to read something else into it, although the imagery is kind of wild.
