Last night I filled in on bass for a local band. Made $275 for 3:15 of work, playing bass and having fun, then left out the back door to my well-parked truck and was home in 5 minutes.
I think I could be a professional musician if all nights were like that.

Anytime you can get paid for doing something you like is cool.
When I was younger, we used to get paid about $100 a night for security at contests. It was great - we saw some excellent bands - Depeche Mode, Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, Van Halen - while being 20-40 feet from the stage. At Guns and Roses, we worked backstage at one of the shows, which was a whole new experience!
