If they pepper sprayed officers they absolutely should be jailed.

If this happened in NY though under DA Bragg, they'd be released.

2 men who pepper-sprayed officers at the Capitol riot last year wept as a judge sentenced them to over 3 years in prison.

Two New York men wept as a judge handed down prison time for their participation in the Capitol riot last year.

Cody Mattice, 29, and James Mault, 30, both received 44 months of prison time on Friday, according to records from the Justice Department. In April, the two pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers during the Capitol riot, a Justice Department release says.

Why don't we just add another +1 in the jailbird column?  850 and counting.

HAHAHAHA why does wannabe tough guys turned out to be such pussy ass liars when they are in court?

---
WASHINGTON — A Tennessee man and self-described "loudmouth," who filmed himself screaming "WE IN THIS B----" as he stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, had a difficult time explaining his actions this week to a jury.

Matthew Bledsoe, of Memphis, was convicted Thursday on a felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding as well as four misdemeanors, including entering or remaining in a restricted building and disorderly and disruptive conduct. Bledsoe, the seventh Jan. 6 defendant to face a jury trial, took the stand as a witness on Wednesday.

In closing statements Thursday, his lawyer, Jerry Ray Smith, argued that jurors should find him guilty of one misdemeanor offense, parading or picketing inside the Capitol, but not guilty on the other counts.

Bledsoe argued that he was unaware that Congress was certifying Joe Biden's 2020 election win when he stormed the Capitol. Despite having received updates from his wife and brother about congressional proceedings inside the Capitol on the day of the riot, he told jurors that he had no idea what lawmakers were doing. Former President Donald Trump’s speech at the Ellipse, which preceded the riot, also mentioned the electoral college certification process.
hahahaha this liar wants everyone to believe he is just a dumbass who can't read or hear

As he entered the Capitol through a door with broken glass panels, Bledsoe filmed himself saying, "Where are those pieces of s--- at." Alarms were blaring in the background of the video.

"Who were the pieces of s---?" Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie Carter asked Bledsoe Wednesday. Bledsoe said he was "being a loudmouth," insisting he was not referring to lawmakers but rather the people whom he believed at the time had stolen an election.
hahahaha and those people just happened to be in the Capital in the same building and room as Congress?   ::)

Carter then showed an image that Bledsoe had reposted on social media that depicted members of Congress hunkered down inside the House amid the riot, with a caption suggesting that politicians should be scared.

Bledsoe said that it was "just something I reposted," and that he didn't have all the information at the time.
hahahahaha that little excuse just isn't going to work.  you would think a Trumpturd would be better at lying seeing how their dear leader exemplifies that trait

When prosecutors confronted him with a text he sent to his wife, saying it was "good" that someone planted bombs near the Capitol, Bledsoe said he really didn't mean "good."
hahaha no he didn't mean it.. it was the damn auto correct on his phone right?

He also claimed he didn't really mean it when he wrote that he "stormed the Capitol."

In an attempt to explain why he climbed a wall to get to the Capitol, Bledsoe said his home in Tennessee was "quite a bit different" than D.C., and that he climbed walls back home regularly.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA  that's all he could come up with?  all this time to come up with a believable or at least reasonable excuse and that is his answer?

Bledsoe also claimed he couldn't hear Capitol alarms blaring on Jan. 6, or in the video he had filmed, which was replayed for the jury.
he already tried the deaf excuse prior.  didn't work

Carter told the jury Thursday that Bledsoe seemed to have a selective memory about what happened on the day of the riot.

"Seems he didn't see the things that could hurt him in his case today," Carter said, encouraging jurors to take Bledsoe at his own words. "He meant what he said, he said what he meant."

"You do not 'storm' somewhere you have a right to be. I don't 'storm' my friend's house when I go over for dinner," Carter said. "He said he stormed the Capitol, and he meant it."

The FBI has arrested about 850 defendants in connection with the Jan. 6 attack. More than 300 defendants have pleaded guilty and over 200 have already been sentenced.

The first six insurrection defendants to face a jury trial — Guy Reffitt, Thomas Robertson, Dustin Thompson, Thomas Webster, Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, and Anthony Robert Williams — were convicted on every count they faced. Other defendants have been convicted by judges during bench trials.

lol….no one gives a shit. Cartoon Network got better ratings. No Dems arrested yet? lol

Why are they hiding Ray Epps? How come they haven’t subpoenaed Tayler Hanson? Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff for brains? Why wasn’t Colbert’s crew arrested for “insurrection” and Schiff charged for letting them in all the while a Dem said he was in fear for his life? I notice how you just happen to leave the links out of your BS. More questions you can’t answer

Like I said. A civil war would last about a day

Hahahahaha...   big ol' +1 to the jailbird column.

A Capitol rioter who said she wanted to shoot Nancy Pelosi in 'the friggin' brain' was sentenced to 2 months in prison.

A Capitol rioter who said she wanted to shoot House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the head during the insurrection was sentenced to two months in prison earlier this week.

Dawn Bancroft pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building in September 2021.

She initially faced four counts related to her role in the January 6, 2021, attack, including entering and remaining in a restricted building and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building. But as the government works to prosecute the more than 870 people arrested in connection with the attack, federal prosecutors have offered some rioters lesser charges in exchange for their guilty pleas.

Bancroft was arrested just weeks after the siege after the FBI received a tip including a video that was filmed by Bancroft during the attack, according to court documents. In the "selfie" video, Bancroft and her friend, Diana Santos-Smith, could be seen trying to exit the Capitol building during the riot. Prosecutors said the video showed a mob of Trump supporters bottlenecked at an exit point.

"We broke into the Capitol ... we got inside, we did our part," Bancroft can be heard saying in the video, according to court documents.

"We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin' brain, but we didn't find her," she added.

In a January 20, 2021 interview, Bancroft told an FBI agent that she and Santos-Smith entered the Capitol through a broken window. She admitted to knowing that she was entering a restricted area when she climbed through the window, according to court documents. Bancroft also told investigators that she later deleted the video of her and Santos-Smith exiting the building after sending it to her children. She subsequently instructed her kids to delete the video as well, prosecutors said.

Bancroft and Santos-Smith were arrested in Pennsylvania soon after.

A defense attorney for Bancroft argued in a court filing that her client did not literally mean to threaten Pelosi's life that day. Judge Emmet Sullivan told Bancroft in court on Wednesday that he was particularly disturbed by the comments and had initially considered a longer sentence before prosecutors recommended two months, according to CNN.

A lawyer for Bancroft did not immediately respond to Insider's request comment.

What a dumb ass.  Should have kept his mouth shut.

A Capitol rioter who called the FBI and admitted to participating in the attack to try and 'clear his name' has now been charged.

A Pennsylvania man this month was charged in connection to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot more than a year after he called the FBI and admitted to participating in the attack in an effort to "clear his name."

Samuel Fontanez Rodriguez was charged on July 6 with four counts related to his role in the siege, including knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

About two weeks after a mob of Trump supporters laid siege to the US Capitol, Fontanez Rodriguez called the FBI, identified himself, and acknowledged that he was present for the attack, according to court documents. In an attempt to "clear his name," Fontanez Rodriguez told investigators he was exposed to tear gas and smoke bombs and said he stayed in the building for only a short period of time before leaving, prosecutors said.

Fontanez Rodriguez's call came mere days after one of his friends, Jackson Kostolsky, spoke to federal investigators about his own role in the insurrection and said he traveled to the Capitol with Fontanez Rodriguez. According to court documents, Kostolsky identified himself and Fontanez Rodriguez in photos from that day in subsequent interviews.

5 years in jail... all because of the Big Lie.    ::)

Man’s 63-month prison term matches longest for Capitol riot.

A man who attacked police officers with poles during the riot at the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Tuesday to more than five years in prison, matching the longest term of imprisonment so far among hundreds of Capitol riot prosecutions.

Mark Ponder, a 56-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., said he “got caught up” in the chaos that erupted on Jan. 6, 2021, and “didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
“I wasn’t thinking that day,” Ponder told U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, asking her for mercy before she sentenced him to five years and three months in prison.

That was three months longer than the prison sentence requested by prosecutors. And it’s the same sentence that Chutkan gave Robert Palmer, a Florida man who also pleaded guilty to assaulting police at the Capitol.

More than 200 other Capitol riot defendants have been sentenced so far. None received a longer prison sentence than Ponder or Palmer.

Chutkan said Ponder was “leading the charge” against police officers trying to hold off the mob that disrupted Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

“This is not ‘caught up,’ Mr. Ponder,” she said. “He was intent on attacking and injuring police officers. This was not a protest.”

Internet troll ‘Baked Alaska’ pleads guilty in Capitol riot.

A far-right internet personality pleaded guilty Friday to joining the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol, where he streamed live video that incriminated him and other rioters, according to a court filing.

Anthime Gionet, known as “Baked Alaska” to his social media followers, faces a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of parading, demonstrating or picketing inside a Capitol building.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan is scheduled to sentence Gionet on Jan. 12, 2023.

The judge had scheduled a March 2023 trial for Gionet after he balked at pleading guilty during an earlier hearing. Sullivan refused to accept a guilty plea by Anthime Gionet in May after he professed his innocence at the start of what was scheduled to be a plea agreement hearing.

At the start of Friday’s virtual hearing, defense attorney Zachary Thornley told the judge that a protester was outside Gionet’s Florida home and was recording the proceedings over the telephone, a violation of court rules.

“Protesting what?” the judge asked.

“I guess him as a person,” Thornley replied.

The judge instructed court staff to shut off the telephone line, preventing the public from hearing Gionet enter his guilty plea.

Two of Gionet’s lawyers didn’t immediately respond to calls for comment after the hearing.

After entering the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Gionet streamed live video that showed himself inside the building and repeatedly encouraging other rioters to stay there.

“Come in. Let’s go. Come on in. Make yourself at home,” Gionet told other rioters, according to a court filing accompanying his guilty plea.

Pro-Trump influencer upset after documents detailing 'substantial' cooperation with FBI are released.

A pro-Trump social media influencer who was convicted of disorderly and disruptive conduct on the Capitol's grounds for his actions Jan. 6 is upset over the release of court filings this week that were supposed to be sealed and detail the assistance he provided to federal authorities investigating the siege.

Brandon Straka, a self-described former liberal who founded the #WalkAway movement in support of Republicans, was sentenced to three months of home detention and a total of three years of probation in January. His relatively light sentence was in part due to what his lawyer described as "significant" cooperation with the FBI investigation into the Jan. 6 attack.

Documents detailing his cooperation were placed under seal when they were filed ahead of his sentencing, but a coalition of media companies that includes NBC News filed a motion this week requesting they be unsealed.

Judge Dabney L. Friedrich ordered earlier this week that some of the documents be unsealed immediately, but asked for additional filings from both parties on whether the underlying attachments with the details of Straka's cooperation should be unsealed.

But the documents provided to the media coalition, in an apparent error, included the underlying attachments that were meant to be kept under seal for the time being. Early Friday, Straka's attorney filed a motion requesting a hearing on the release of the documents “without Court approval.”

After details of Straka's cooperation began spreading on social media and a report about it ran on WUSA-9, Straka took to the right-leaning social media platform GETTR and posted a two-page letter expressing outrage at what he described as a "leak."

According to prosecutors, however, Straka is really underselling the assistance he provided in their prosecution of the woman he now calls a friend. The Department of Justice wrote in its own memo that Straka gave federal investigators critical information in the case because he “provided the government with voicemail messages that he received from Gold” that were “valuable in the government’s prosecution.” Gold was sentenced to two months in federal prison in June.

Straka, according to the government, also provided "beneficial" information about a man who, like him, was also present outside the Capitol and "was not previously identified by the FBI prior to Straka’s identification." Straka provided the information on the man, whom his defense described as a convicted sex offender from Nevada, although Straka's defense memo noted that it was "unknown whether this individual actually did enter the Capitol."

It isn't the first time that Straka has attempted to scrub away the facts of his case.

Although he admitted in a signed court document as part of his plea, that it was "true and accurate" that he said "take it, take it" as rioters attempted to steal a Capitol Police officer's shield, he's since tried to downplay the behavior he admitted, and strongly implied that he was lying when he signed the plea deal.

A ex-cop found guilty of multiple counts related to the Capitol riot said he was 'drinking too much' and reading articles fed to him by the Facebook algorithm.

A former police officer who was convicted on multiple counts related to participating in the Capitol riot said he was under stress, drinking too much, and in a "rabbit hole" of conspiracy theories leading up to the insurrection.

Thomas Robertson, 49, was a police officer in Rocky Mount, Virginia, but was fired shortly after his arrest in January 2021. In April, he was found guilty by a jury on six counts, including obstructing an official proceeding and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds while carrying a dangerous weapon.

In a letter filed Thursday ahead of his sentencing, Robertson said he took responsibility for what he did but wanted to make the judge aware of things that "may have contributed to" his state of mind before and on January 6, 2021.

Months before the attack, Robertson said he became the primary caretaker for an older friend who had brain cancer, in addition to being a police sergeant and small farmer. The older friend was a "vocal and enthusiastic Trump supporter and as a result of caring for him I was exposed to lots of pro Trump, anti Biden media."

Robertson said the stress he was experiencing caused him to drink more than he ever had before, adding that "shameful" social media posts he made leading up to January 6 were "a product of stress, alcohol abuse, and submersion in deep 'rabbit holes' of election conspiracy theory."

"I sat around at night drinking too much and reacting to articles and sites given to me by Facebook algorythms [sic]," he wrote. "The result was shameful and not at all indicative of the person I am, or have ever been."

Kansas man charged with assaulting federal officer in Capitol riot to go to trial.

A Kansas man charged with multiple felonies in connection with the Capitol riot, including assaulting a federal officer, is scheduled to go to trial in Washington, D.C., this fall.

The jury trial for Michael Eckerman, of Wichita, will begin on Nov. 28, U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Cooper ordered this week. The trial will be held in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Eckerman will be the first Kansas defendant charged in the Capitol riot cases to go to trial. Eight Kansas residents have been charged for offenses ranging from demonstrating in a Capitol building to threatening or assaulting officers. Of those, four have pleaded guilty and three of those have been sentenced. The other is scheduled for sentencing in November.

Eckerman was indicted by a grand jury on Oct. 8. He is charged with multiple felonies, including civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers, as well as several misdemeanors.

One of the conditions of release set by U.S. Magistrate Judge Gwynne E. Birzer after Eckerman’s arrest in Wichita in September raised questions about a possible connection to the far-right Proud Boys. It said, “No contact with Proud Boys organization nor anyone a member of or connected to it.”

On April 27, the government filed a superseding indictment against Eckerman, adding Kirstyn Niemela of New Hampshire as a co-defendant. Niemela was arrested in New Hampshire on Jan. 18, 2021, along with a woman from Massachusetts. The two were seen with Eckerman in photos and surveillance video at the Capitol. Niemela also is scheduled for trial on Nov. 28.

According to charging documents in the case, an anonymous tipster provided authorities with a photo of a man the person said was Eckerman. The man was inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, wearing a tactical vest and red Trump cap, posing in front of a painting of George Washington. The tipster said Eckerman had sent photos to friends back in Wichita that day.

Another tipster identified Eckerman in a photo from a Facebook post in which Eckerman was wearing the same cap and tactical gear, the documents said. That photo also showed a woman with a red scarf and another person who both were with Eckerman. Police body-worn camera footage from that day showed the man believed to be Eckerman yelling at officers as they tried to keep protesters away from the Capitol, according to the court documents.

Surveillance camera footage from inside the Capitol showed Eckerman and the two women — wearing black sweatshirts and draped in American flags — entering the building around 2:23 p.m. through the Senate wing door. About 2:27 p.m., the documents said, Eckerman was seen on surveillance cameras outside the crypt of the Capitol building, where Capitol Police had stopped the surge of rioters.

“Eckerman pushes his way through the crowd up to one of the officers until he is face to face with the officer,” the charging documents said. “He appears to push the officer backwards several feet.”

The officer, whose initials are K.Y., was later interviewed and said that the man identified as Eckerman pushed him “with aggressive force,” according to the documents. “The push caused Officer K.Y. to lose his balance and fall down a small set of stairs. After being knocked to the ground, Officer K.Y. was sprayed in the face with a fire extinguisher by an unknown individual.”
