Alcala-Masters of the Universe was Prime-era Masters.

Alfredo Alcala also drew Conan a lot, so He-Man and Conan had similar poses.

Typical Conan-strike pose he also used for He-Man

Alcalas Conan often swung his weapon with the same pose as He-man here

He-Man had Magic Origin so he could give Superman a Match (one of Supes weaknesses beside Kryptonite and Chipotle was Magic)

It was the art style I really fell in love with when looking through the little booklets that came with the original Master's in the 80ies.

Yes , Alcala drew them so well and impressive in the 80s that i always rooted for Mer-Man and Skeletor.

He-Man felt too vanilla and liberal with his haircut o his.

Just check out the lats on Skeletor on the left

Merman wasn't the most technical ( you could compare his explosiveness , athleticism but dull mind with blacks, the likeness is there ), but he had heart and grit.

Probably not. They addressed that when they made a new cartoon and toys in 2002.

The initial run of action figures had the cross. But either people complained or Mattel got nervous, and they changed it
